In the middle and late spring and Autumn period, the typical characteristics of Chu Culture have been formed, but the appearance of Chu Culture in the middle of the spring and Autumn period and before has not been reached a consensus in the academic circles. Therefore, the central area of the distribution of early Chu Culture is not clear. The direction of exploring Chu Culture in the Western Zhou Dynasty is mainly in Western Hubei and Danshui basin. This paper selects the remains in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River that may have an internal relationship with Chu Culture in the middle reaches of the spring and Autumn period and before as the research object, and divides the whole region into three sub regions: Juzhang River Basin,Xiling Gorge area and the northeast of Dongting Lake.Firstly, this paper summarizes the characteristics of typical Chu Culture.Based on the research of typology and chronology, through the method of cultural factor analysis, this paper successively judges the part in which the cultural factors come down in one continuous line with Chu Culture and the part in contact with other regions. The juzhanghe River Basin first appeared in the middle of the Western Zhou Dynasty, which is in the same line with the typical Chu Culture. The large mouth and flat crotch cuboid and the divination bone of the double drill in this area all suggest the tradition of the Zhou Culture; At the same time, only in the middle and late Western Zhou Dynasty, the region was more affected by Zhou Culture and Xiajiang culture, and the cultural outlook was relatively simple. With cheap waterway conditions, the residential sites in the Juzhang River Basin tend to be consistent in terms of cultural appearance, and are poised to become the capital of Chu Ying in the Jiangling Area downstream.Xiling Gorge area guarded the outlet of Xiajiang River,Chu Culture related factors appeared in the middle of the Western Zhou Dynasty, and fierce cultural exchanges took place around the late Western Zhou Dynasty. The cultural factors of Xiajiang Area affect this area to a great extent, but the Chu Cultural factors continue to develop in a certain direction. As the remains created by the branch "Kui" of Chu people,it is naturally closely related to Chu Culture. The related factors of Chu culture appeared in the northeast of Dongting Lake Plain in the early spring and Autumn period, but the local culture merged and transformed it.This situation lasted until the immigrants who moved into the Chu Culture system in Luocheng area in the middle and late spring and Autumn period. The Chu Cultural factors in this region are related to Huanggang and Daye areas on the South Bank of the Yangtze River. The latter gradually faded from the strong color of Yue Culture and was dominated by Chu Culture since the Spring and Autumn period. The channel on the north side of Mufu mountain became the main channel for Chu Cultural factors to enter the Dongting Lake Plain, and the earlier Yue culture also entered here.Through the above research methods from the late to the early,it can be determined that the Juzhang River Basin was inseparable from the Chu Culture in the Western Zhou Dynasty.Even under the influence of many external factors, the Chu Cultural factors still moved in a certain direction and connected with the typical Chu Culture in the middle and late spring and Autumn period. Therefore, the Juzhang river basin is inseparable from the early Chu Culture and is likely to be the central area of its distribution. |
