There are a large number of records on the image of the crane in ancient literature.The earliest concern is the external characteristics of the crane,such as sound,leg foot and so on.After that,the focus turns to its noble character characteristics,and the sound is good at dancing.The image of the crane has changed from personification.The cranes recorded in the Han Dynasty not only sounded loud and clear,but also made the crane image closer to daily life as a symbol of auspiciousness and auspicious signs,which became an indispensable auspicious theme.Therefore,there were very rich crane images in the unearthed cultural relics of the Han Dynasty.Crane images widely exist in stone,brick,tomb murals,silk paintings,tiles,bronze mirrors and other carriers of different materials,with sculpture and painting as the main form of expression.In the middle and late Western Han Dynasty,a large number of crane images appeared,especially in the late Western Han Dynasty.A considerable number of crane images appeared in the portrait stone,which was an important decorative theme in the stone tomb of the Han Dynasty.The content was rich,and the theme of crane fish and crane on the roof was more common.The symbolic meaning of the crane in the portrait stone is mainly divided into five categories,namely,the symbol of the tomb owner reaching the fairy world,the tool of lifting the fairy,the expression of the tomb owner ’ s elegance and virtue,immortality,auspicious evil.Influenced by geographical location,economic development,cultural differences and crane-raising customs,the regional characteristics of Han stone portraits will also affect the performance of crane images,but the overall difference is not large.By analyzing the symbolic significance of crane images in different regions,we can see that by the Eastern Han Dynasty,the understanding of crane images in stone tombs in various regions has become consistent,which also reflects the gradual formation of the unified culture in the Han Dynasty.The crane image in the portrait stone is an important way for us to understand the belief of immortals,the concept of immortal ascension and the customs of life in Han Dynasty.After the admiration of the rulers of the Han Dynasty and the popularity of social customs,crane culture has been enduring,until today is still alive,it represents the auspicious,longevity meaning has been deeply rooted in people ’ s spiritual world.
