Research On The Construction Of Government Image Based On Corpus

With the rapid development of the economy and the iterative update of new network media technology,our society is undergoing drastic changes during the transition period.During this crucial transition period,using new media platforms and expression channels to shape a good image of the government has become an important issue.Nowadays,micro-blogs have become one of the virtual channels for people to get information and express their opinions.Government micro-blogs have also become an important channel for the Party and the government to contact the masses,serve the masses and unite the masses in the mobile Internet era.Government micro-blog discourse is also an essential means to construct the government’s image.This research selects the official microblog of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League,a typical representative of governmental microblogs,as the research object.The research questions are divided into two aspects:(1)What kind of government image has been constructed by the “Central Committee of the Communist Youth League” microblog? How has its image changed over time?(2)What are the characteristics of the discourse in the process of government image construction?With the assistance of Python,the researcher crawls the micro-blog content and comments by writing a crawler program and used Natural Language Processing techniques for topic modeling and sentiment analysis.Through text mining,the content is further analyzed,and a government image model is constructed under the guidance of Manheim’s image transformation theory.After that,a corpus of the official microblog of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League is constructed,and quantitative analysis is conducted from the micro-level under Sinclair’s corpus linguistic theory.Then the qualitative interpretation is conducted with Van Dijk and Hart’s discourse theory.The results show that:(1)The official microblog of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League has transformed its government image from“policy-release” to “service-oriented”.(2)Its content focuses on the growth dynamics of the national youth and uses rich multimodal images videos.And it also uses positive commentary to enhance the cohesiveness of the youth group and publishes content with a positive emotional orientation.As the top micro-blog in the ranking of government micro-blog influence,the content characteristics of the official micro-blog of the “Central Committee of the Communist Youth League” have specific implications for other similar government micro-blogs,which can optimize the structure of discourse to achieve a more intimate expression with the public and make the government micro-blog discourse better serve the image building of the government.
