Research On The Storytelling Of Documentaries On The Theme Of "Three Rural Issues

Focusing on the "three rural areas" is the foundation of China.From the history of China’s 5,000 years of farming civilization to the 70 years of agricultural and rural development in the new China,the country has been paying more and more attention to the "three rural" issues and has gradually promulgated and improved a series of policies to benefit agriculture.With the implementation of these policies,more and more stories of the "three rural areas" have gradually entered the public’s view.As a kind of art form to look at reality,documentary film has become an excellent means to disseminate the "three rural" stories.Therefore,documentaries on the theme of "three rural areas" have emerged with the core of recording "three rural areas" stories.In the early days,the main purpose of creating documentaries on the "three rural areas" was to preserve the content of the "three rural areas" as a documentary,emphasizing its historical value and archival value,while its artistry and interest were relatively weak.As the creative concept of documentary creators continues to change,the narrative form continues to innovate,gradually improving and enriching the storytelling content,narrative techniques and narrative strategies of documentaries,highlighting the ornamental and interesting nature.The expression of storytelling is more in line with the aesthetic needs of the audience nowadays,maintaining the authenticity on the one hand,and developing innovative forms of expression on the other.The documentary film on "three rural areas" takes "three rural areas" as its performance object,focuses on agricultural development,rural landscape and farmers’ life,and presents rural landscape and local culture from the perspective of storytelling in a multi-level and three-dimensional manner.This paper discusses the characteristics and types of documentaries on "three rural issues",which can clarify their characteristics of period,storytelling and effectiveness,as well as the types of rural revitalization,social issues and local humanities;the problems of illustration policy,serious modeling,excessive beauty and reduction of reality,single means of expression and lack of fun are the problems in their current creation.The problem is that the storytelling method can make up for these shortcomings and enhance its watchability.The content of storytelling is summarized in the context of some domestic "three rural" documentaries,including the selection of "typical" story subjects,the construction of story chains by daily events in rural areas,the environmental writing of natural environment and social context,and the thematic expression of cohesive emotions.The characters are selected from farmers and grassroots cadres stationed in villages with conflicting old and new ideas;the events unfold from the farmers’ real-life dilemmas and daily life;the environment combines the natural environment and social context to reflect the "three rural" stories,presenting the farmers’ vision of a better life and the thematic expression of local identity.Combined with the domestic "Three Rural Issues" documentary and the graduation work "Hold on to the Land",the storytelling language is explained in terms of camera and sound,with long shots recording farmers’ lives,empty shots building local memories,and close-up shots portraying farmers’ images;the simultaneous sound creates a real atmosphere in rural areas,the dialect enhances the audience’s emotional resonance,and the narration strengthens rural culture.Intuitive.The storytelling strategy used in the documentaries on "three rural issues" is not static,and the forms used are not limited to any particular form,and the storytelling strategy is described in detail from three aspects: narrative perspective,narrative technique and spatial narrative.The storytelling strategy is based on the "triadic dialectic" of Edward Sawyer’s spatial epistemology,and the meaning of spatial narrative is explained in the context of the graduation work.The "second space" :symbolic and rural culture constructs imaginary space,and the "third space" : narration and pop-up text extends open space.Insufficient suspense,flat plot,flat characters,and lack of vividness are the most common problems for the creators of documentaries on "three rural" topics.In the future,documentaries on "three rural" topics should also make use of sinking subjects to develop a civilian narrative perspective and convey humanistic sentiments by expressing characters’ emotions.
