| Evaluation of language in classroom teaching is the most direct way of communication between teachers and students.Teachers’ proper use of evaluation language can stimulate students’ interest in learning and encourage students to think positively.As the main organizers of students’ classroom learning effect evaluation,teachers’ scientific and effective classroom evaluation language has an important impact on students’ English learning habits and efficiency.In the process of classroom teaching,teachers mainly provide feedback information for students’ learning and other classroom performances through language,helping students to realize their progress and shortcomings.Therefore,this study is conducted to answer the following two questions:(1)What are the procedural performances of English teachers’ classroom teaching evaluation language?(2)What are the problems and influencing factors of the evaluation language used by English teachers in classroom teaching?Starting with the five basic principles of classroom teaching evaluation language,this study conducts a 16 weeks of research on the current situation of the English teachers’ evaluation language.To analyze the classroom teaching evaluation language of English teachers,the author observes and tapes 42 classes of 6 English teachers,and then collects the data using the classroom observation scale and recording transcription.In addition,to investigate the comprehension of English teachers and students in the language of classroom teaching evaluation,the author collects 113 teachers’ questionnaires and 314 students’ questionnaires and interviews 6 English teachers and 18 students.The data obtained from the study are analyzed by Excel software and Questionnaire Stars.The main findings are as follows:(1)It is concluded that some English teachers ignore the development of evaluation language goals,fewer English teachers pay attention to students’ language expression skills,developmental thinking,and emotional attitude,most English teachers tend to evaluate students’ classroom performance by themselves,but neglect students’ evaluation.Besides,most English teachers can use both verbal and physical evaluation language well,and most English teachers can use praised and critical language reasonably.However,regarding the artistry of evaluating language effects in classroom teaching,most English teachers are less likely to use and perform in the classroom.The above analysis results are the performances of the language process of teachers’ classroom teaching evaluation.(2)It is concluded that the junior high school English teachers’ classroom teaching evaluation language has the following two problems: the first is that the young teachers attach importance to the judgment of right and wrong and ignoring the analysis of the reasons.The young teachers’ evaluation language focuses on knowledge and skills and ignoring the process and method.The second is that the subject of language evaluation of senior teachers tends to be teachers and they ignore the subject status of students.Their evaluation language lacks comprehensiveness and pertinence.Besides,this study analyzes the influencing factors of evaluation language of English teachers’ include the pressure of teaching tasks,the cooperation of students,the types of classrooms,and the objects of teaching.The subjective factors include teachers’ gender,age,and personality.And the teachers’ ability to master and apply English knowledge,the ability to organize and implement classroom teaching,and the ability to express themselves.Besides,the following are the pedagogical implications of the research: the results of this study can arouse English teachers’ attention to classroom teaching evaluation language and promote more scholars’ research on evaluation language.Through the analysis of the problems existing in the evaluation language of English teachers,English teachers can pay attention to the developmental evaluation language,the comprehensiveness of the evaluation language content,and the subject of the evaluation language should be inclined to students. |
