In 2001,the New English Curriculum Standard issued by the Ministry of Education states that the basic goal of the English course is to develop students' comprehensive language ability.In addition,under the background of Task-based Language Teaching(TBLT),teachers should pay attention to students' learning interest,life experience and cognitive level,and develop their ability to use language by means of perception,experience,practice,participation and cooperation.In order to promote the implementation of TBLT,a variety of classroom activities are applied to English teaching.As an effective teaching method in English class,classroom activity has a great research value.The study aims to investigate the actual situation of English classroom activity in junior high school from the angles of students and teachers,and to discuss and analyze some influence factors in the implementation of classroom activity.The research questions are as follows:(1)What is the actual situation of English classroom activity implemented in junior high school under the background of TBLT?(2)What are the factors that affect English classroom activity?This survey solved the questions above by inviting 258 Grade Eight students from Beipiao No.7 junior high school to complete the questionnaire,observing 12 lessons and interviewing 5 English teachers and 18 students randomly selected from participants.The valid data collected were analyzed to draw the conclusion.The results of this study show that more than half of students have a good understanding of English learning.Teachers and students are generally satisfied with the overall situation of classroom activity.However there are still some problems: the form of classroom activity is single,and teachers still continue the traditional teaching methods,etc.While discovering the problems,researcher finds and sums up some influence factors,which mainly come from the teacher level,the student level and some objective factors.Based on the problems and these factors,researcher puts forward some suggestions.There are some shortcomings in this study.It is hoped that more teachers provide valuable suggestions for the better use of classroom activity.
