Research On The Aesthetics Of Disappearance By Paul Virilio

Paul Virilio was a famous Frenchaesthete,literary theoristandphilosopher.Virilio is a honorable founder of the theory of social acceleration.Facing the accelerated reality of society,Virilio perceptivelycaptured the hidden changes in the art world in the Speed Machine Age,and creatively put forward his most original aesthetic theory called the aesthetics of disappearance.Based on the theory of disappearingaesthetics,this papermakes a theoretical analysis from three aspects:meaning,historical context,three internal attributes and aesthetic interpretation in the visual field of art.The first chapter mainly discusses the connotation and historical context of disappearing aesthetics.Disappearing aesthetics is based on accelerating reality,and it represents the absence of entity presence.In accelerating reality,the existence of various technological prostheses cause objective things to lose their material shell.What’s more,they cause physical existence to give way to telepresence and the original body-centred perceptual experience to disappear.The aesthetics of disappearance represents long-range presence and acceleration.This chapter,besides clarifying the definition of disappearance and exploring the connotation of disappearing aesthetics,also analyzes the theoretical origin,formation and development of disappearing aesthetics.The second chapter discusses the three attributes of disappearing aesthetics.This chapter is a key part of the full text.In the “illuminating” dromosphere,the speed not only changes the interface of the live transmission but also leads to the disappearance of dasein.Catering to the accelerating logic and satisfying the instant pleasure,the aesthetic subject pushes the immediacy of presentation and disappearance to the extreme and causes the entity’s existence to disappear into the appliance world.In this part,from the perspective of speed aesthetics,perception aesthetics and technology aesthetics,the author analyzes the three intrinsic attributes of speed invisibility,perceptual variation and long-range presence.The third chapter analyzes the aesthetic interpretation of disappearing aesthetics from the perspective of art.In the digital world,long-range presence has not only changed the nature of traditional presentation,but also the way people view and understand the art world.The traditional source of empathy is touching,and now touching has become the“Eye of luxury”.In the constant acceleration,the absence of physical presence causes a change in the structure of the mind’s concentration.The brand-new writing screen perception mode and the artistic polar inertia of pursuing the concise law have promoted the process of minimalist art fashion.In the conclusion part,the author makes an overall summary and an objective evaluation of the significance and limitations of Virilio’s disappearing aesthetics.Based on a comprehensive consideration of the practical significance and limitations of disappearing aesthetics,this paper expounds on the theoretical resources and meaning provided by Virilio’s disappearing aesthetics for the study of Western aesthetics and the study of Western art practice.Finally,this paper explains the practical enlightenment significance to the development of contemporary art in China.
