| In the Western left-wing "accelerationism" trend of thought,time is a very important concept.How to understand the essence of time and the relationship between man and time is an important issue that people must face in accelerating society.In this case,the systematic interpretation,deconstruction and reconstruction of time by the French thinker Paul Virilio in his speed of liberation will not only help to provide theoretical guidance for solving the contemporary time dilemma,but also enable us to better understand the tendency of foreign social thoughts,so as to better study the localization of the concept of time,and then help us deepen our contemporary cognition of Marx’s time theory.Virilio’s view of time is developed in "racing science",and its essence is an innovative criticism of contemporary "racing society".Based on the perspective of Marxist historical materialism,this paper uses the method of literature analysis and other research methods,in order to reveal the contribution and deficiency of Virilio through the interpretation of time in Virilio’s speed of liberation.The discussion of Virilio’s view of time starts from Virilio’s era.The rapid development of digital information technology,the information upgrading of war,the accelerating process of globalization and the advent of the racing era have laid an important era foundation for the formation of Virilio’s view of time.In terms of theoretical sources,Virilio developed his own view of time through Marx’s understanding of time,Einstein’s "space-time relativity",David Harvey’s "space-time compression" theory and Stigler’s inheritance and reconstruction of technical time.The research on the formation background of Virilio’s view of time is conducive to us to better grasp the main content of his view of time.Virilio’s view of time is mainly reflected in the book the speed of liberation,which critically interprets Virilio’s time in the instrumentalization of technological space,time in politics and time in liberation.In the part of time in the instrumentalization of technological space,Virilio points out the great impact of the drastic change of space-time relations on people’s sense of space-time experience;In the part of time in politics,Virilio analyzed the internal relationship between politics and time,and revealed the influence of the trend of time hegemony under the new political relationship on contemporary democratic politics;In the part of time in liberation,Virilio analyzes the pseudo liberation essence behind the seemingly liberation in the time-oriented society.All these show the current situation of time dilemma at all levels of society in the racing era.Virilio’s view of time has certain theoretical value,which is mainly reflected in revealing the mechanism behind the speed crisis,expanding the basic ontological significance of time,providing a unique perspective for the study of contemporary view of time,and thus extending Marx’s critical theory.The study of Virilio’s view of time is conducive to breaking our usual way of understanding time and opening up innovative critical thinking in line with the characteristics of the times.However,its view of time also has many limitations,such as the perspective of analyzing time deviates from the scientific view of time,the standpoint of looking at technology has not achieved dialectical unity,the solution to the time dilemma has deviated from the perspective of practice,and the criticism of the capitalist system has not grasped the essential problems.Therefore,we must look for the significance of Virilio’s view of time in contemporary society from the objective perspective of Marxist rational narration. |
