Prints and illustrations were an important part of novels and books in Ming Dynasty,and their occurrence and development promoted the spread of novels.The print illustrations of the Ming Dynasty were the peak period of ancient Chinese print illustrations,which were reflected in the stereotyped technical level,creative ability,and rich layout types of print illustrations.Through the expression of print illustrations,I try to explore the artistic characteristics of female figures in the Ming Dynasty from the perspectives of composition,character depiction,garden architecture,plot and detail,as well as the application of print illustrations in Ming Dynasty in the author’s creative practice.The novel "Jin Ping Mei" has always been controversial.It is this "wonderful book" that shows a truly corrupt society in the late Ming Dynasty,causing people to think about how to survive in the contradictions between human beings and nature,society and nature.This paper mainly takes the Chongzhen version of "Newly Carved Embroidered Images Criticizing Jin Ping Mei" as the research object.The 200 print illustrations in the novel not only have the narrative function of reproducing the original text,but also have the meaning of reconstruction,reconstruction and value-added.Among them,scenes such as courtyard scenes,official halls and yamen,sex scenes,peeping illusions and other scenes are depicted.This paper is mainly divided into five chapters,the first chapter is the definition and development history of print illustration.The second chapter is divided into four sections.The first section briefly summarizes the artistic characteristics of female characters in the Ming Dynasty print illustrations.The second and third sections focus on the analysis of the Chongzhen edition of Newly carved and embroidered images criticize the artistic characteristics of female figures in the print illustrations of "Jin Ping Mei",from the two perspectives of the explicit changes in composition and garden architecture,and the implicit changes of "peeping","dream" and "details";Analysis of clothing depiction angle.The third chapter analyzes the relationship between the depiction of female characters in "Jin Ping Mei" and "Water Margin".The fourth chapter is the application of the artistic features of female figures in the print illustrations of the Ming Dynasty in the creative practice.The fifth chapter concludes.
