Approaching The Truth

A good documentary isn’t just a reflection of real life.Documentary as a kind of artistic media,the reality of documentary is also artistic reality.Truth is always put in the first place in the creation of documentaries.In the era of digital media,images are flooding social media platforms all the time.At present,we should re-discuss what is the authenticity of documentary,so as to approach the eternal theoretical proposition of what is true.This paper sorts out the concept of "truth" in philosophy and the historical development track of "truth" in art,so as to open the research field of "truth" in documentary,return the observation of "truth" in documentary to the two dimensions of "truth" in philosophy and "truth" in art,and reveal the complexity of the concept of "truth".Further,the discussion about the authenticity of Wang Bing’s documentary is extended to the authenticity of André Bazin’s and Gilles Louis Rene Deleuze’s image ontology,and the authenticity of Wang Bing’s documentary is interpreted in a hierarchical and transcendent way to analyze the different levels and rich connotations of the authenticity of documentary.At the same time,the real analysis of Wang Bing documentary needs to go beyond Wang Bing’s works to see the realistic significance of Wang Bing documentary.Through watching and analyzing wang Bing’s observation and creation of social reality,his concern for the bottom people and his attention to the marginal space,we feel the urgency of authenticity in the identity of the other.When the philosophical truth,as a concept,cannot be fully realized by practice,it can only be understood and approached through art.In the post-modern society,in the flow of images,we pass through an inverted flow of time--past,past,present and future,all of which exist in the present.In Wang Bing’s documentary,we feel the isomorphism of time and life in time-image.
