General Senior High School English Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition 2020Revision)stipulates that senior high school learners need to reach the second level of speaking if they hope to continue their further learning in colleges.It requires that learners verbally describe their own or others’ experiences and express their emotions,attitudes,and opinions in the process of oral expression.It can be seen that oral English plays a vital role in senior high school English teaching.As a relatively novel teaching mode,interactive teaching of oral English enables teachers to focus on the design and implementation of oral interactive activities in English class.Students’ interest and learning enthusiasm will be motivated,which promotes them to actively participate in oral interaction in English class.Therefore,it is necessary to apply the interactive teaching of oral English in senior high school English class.The questions of this thesis are shown as the followings: 1.What is the cognition of senior high school English teachers on interactive teaching of oral English in English class? 2.How do teachers apply interactive teaching of oral English in senior high school English class?This study chooses 50 senior high school English teachers from different schools in Xi’an for questionnaire survey,among whom 6 teachers are randomly selected in classroom observation and interview.SPSS26.0 is used to make the data analysis.The results show that current senior high school English teachers agree with the importance and the application of interactive teaching of oral English,but some teachers have insufficient cognition of it.According to the practical application,the forms and activities of interactive teaching of oral English in senior high school English class are still far from varied.Some teachers prefer to use teacher-student and teacher-class interaction in class but neglect the types of teacher-group and student-student interaction,which bias the principle of student-centeredness.Besides,some teachers often use teacher-student Q&A to make oral interaction in class,but pay less attention to other activities like debate,role-play,and group discussion.Therefore,the application of interactive teaching of oral English in senior high school has not yet achieved ideal results.Compared with most of the previous studies,teachers are chosen as the research participants and corresponding feasible suggestions to improve teachers’ cognition of interactive teaching of oral English in senior high school English class are attempted to be put forward in order to optimize the effectiveness of oral English teaching.Meanwhile,it is also hoped that this study will raise teachers’ awareness of students’ oral English through improving their cognition of interactive teaching of oral English,so as to promote teachers’ ability of the application of interactive teaching of oral English and the effectiveness of oral English teaching in senior high school. |
