Because of its unique natural environment and geographical location, the southeastern region of Shanxi has an extremely important strategic position in the era of cold weapons, and has been a place where soldiers must fight since ancient times. In recent years, the continuous publication of relevant archaeological achievements in this area from the Eastern Zhou Dynasty to the Qin and Han Dynasties has provided a rich data basis for the study of settlement systems in southeastern Shanxi From the perspective of archaeology, combined with the scale, nature and distribution characteristics of the settlements, this paper systematically analyzes the settlement system,so as to form a research result on the evolution of the settlement system from the Eastern Zhou to the Qin and Han dynasties in southeastern Shanxi, and provides an ideal research sample for us to explore the ancient political system and the change of strategic position from the Eastern Zhou to the Qin and Han dynasties in southeastern Shanxi. This article is mainly divided into five parts. The first chapter is an introduction.Firstly, the research objects and related concepts involved in this paper are defined;second, the spatial and spatial scope is delineated according to the research objects, and the relevant historical evolution is explained;and finally,on the basis of sorting out and summarizing the relevant archaeological findings and related settlement research results in the southeastern Shanxi region from the Eastern Zhou to the Qin and Han dynasties, the main problems and innovation points of this paper are introduced. The second chapter is the collation and analysis of relevant materials at the settlement site.Through more comprehensive collection and collation, this paper covers a total of 207 settlements from the Eastern Zhou to the Qin and Han dynasties in southeastern Shanxi, which have been investigated and excavated by archaeology,of which 8 belong to the Spring and Autumn Period. There are 82 settlements in the Warring States period, including settlements used by the Warring States in the Spring and Autumn Period. There were 172 settlements during the Qin and Han dynasties, including the Spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period settlements that were used by the Qin and Han dynasties. On the basis of understanding the settlement information, with reference to the research results of predecessors, the settlement is first divided into five levels based on the scale of the settlement.Secondly, the dating analysis of the settlement sites from the Eastern Zhou to the Qin and Han dynasties is carried out,and according to the analysis of typical sites, the settlements in the eastern Zhou to Qin and Han periods in the southeastern Shanxi Dynasty are divided into three major periods: Spring and Autumn Period,Warring States, and Qin and Han Dynasties. Finally,on the basis of grading and segmentation, the more detailed or important settlements of each period are briefly summarized and the nature of the settlements is analyzed. The third chapter examines the distribution and change of settlements.According to the geographical scope of southeast Shanxi, combined with the level and type of settlements, the spatial distribution characteristics of settlements in the three periods of Spring and Autumn,Warring States,Qin and Han dynasties are investigated in detail, and the change process of settlements is discussed from two dimensions, horizontal and vertical. In the study of settlements,we not only pay attention to the distribution characteristics of cities and towns, but also pay attention to the distribution and change of more general settlements, and then more comprehensively analyze the distribution characteristics and changes of settlements in the southeastern Shanxi Dynasty and the Spring and Autumn Period, warring states,Qin and Han Dynasties. The fourth chapter is an analysis of the influencing factors of settlement change. The natural factors reflected in the changes in settlements from the Eastern Zhou to the Qin and Han dynasties in the southeastern Shanxi Dynasty are analyzed and the humanistic factors including politics, military, and transportation are analyzed.Settlement change is the result of the comprehensive influence of natural factors and cultural factors including political, military, transportation, etc. The unique natural environment of the southeastern Shanxi dynasty is a prerequisite condition that restricts the development of settlements in this area, and because of its unique geographical location, this area has become a military and transportation center, directly affecting the distribution of settlements Political factors dominate the social development of southeastern Shanxi and the change of settlement form and attributes, and run through the development of settlements. The fifth chapter is the conclusion. On the basis of summarizing the changes of the settlement system from the Eastern Zhou Dynasty to the Qin and Han Dynasties in the southeast of Shanxi,it is further deepened to explore the changes of the political system embodied by the changes of the settlements.
