The Influence Of Awe On Aggressive Behaviour Of Middle School Students | | Posted on:2023-07-26 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:W H Hou | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2555306911475874 | Subject:Basic Psychology | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | In recent years,cases of bullying and violence among primary and middle school students have been searched frequently.The state has also issued relevant documents to prevent and control school bullying and violence legally.School bullying and violence,as typical performances of individual aggression,have caused serious harm to individual physical and mental development.How to reduce individual aggression is imminent.Aggression can be divided into proactive aggression and reactive aggression according to its different causes.There are differences in influencing factors and generating mechanism between them,but their harmfulness deserves our equal attention..In this study,students of a middle school in Shanxi Province were selected as the research objects,by questionnaire method and experimental method,to investigated the effects of awe on individual proactive aggression and reactive aggression,as well as the effects of positive awe and negative awe on individual proactive aggression and reactive aggression,and explored "small self" and "self-transcendence" in which the mechanism of action.In experiment 1,three emotions(awe,joy and neutral)were induced to investigate the effect of awe on individual proactive aggression and its mechanism.The results showed that :(1)individuals in awe showed a lower level of proactive aggression than those in joy and neutral emotions;(2)Awe could significantly negatively predict individual proactive aggression;(3)Small self played a mediating role in the effect of awe on middle school students’ proactive aggression.In experiment 2,two emotions(positive awe and negative awe)were induced to investigate the effect of positive awe and negative awe on individual proactive aggression and its mechanism.The results showed that :(1)individuals with negative awe showed a lower level of proactive aggression than those with positive awe;(2)Positive awe significantly negatively predict individual proactive aggression;Self-transcendence played a mediating role in the influence of positive awe on individual proactive aggression,small self and self-transcendence played a chain mediating role in the influence of positive awe on individual proactive aggression.(3)Negative awe significantly negatively predicted individual proactive aggression;Self-transcendence played a mediating role in the effect of negative awe on individual proactive aggression.In experiment 3,three emotions(awe,joy and neutral)were induced to investigate the effect of awe on reactive aggression and its mechanism.The results showed that :(1)individuals in awe showed a lower level of reactive aggression than those in joy and neutral emotions;(2)Awe could significantly negatively predict reactive aggression;(3)Self-transcendence played a mediating role in the effect of awe on reactive aggression;Small self and self-transcendence played a chain mediating role in the effect of awe on reactive aggression of middle school students.In experiment 4,two emotions(positive awe and negative awe)were induced to investigate the effect of positive awe and negative awe on reactive aggression and its mechanism.The results showed that :(1)individuals with negative awe showed a lower level of reactive aggression than those with positive awe;(2)Positive awe significantly negatively predicted reactive aggression;Small self and self-transcendence mediated the effect of positive awe on individual reactive aggression respectively.(3)Negative awe significantly negatively predicted individual proactive aggression;Self-transcendence played a mediating role in the effect of negative awe on reactive aggression.In conclusion,the results of this study show that the induction of awe can have a positive effect on proactive aggression and reactive aggression of middle school students,which provides a solution for the prevention and intervention of school bullying and violence in the future. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Awe, Proactive aggression, Reactive aggression, Small self, Self-transcendence | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
