Ethical Implication Of Narrative Structure

The study of the ethical implication of narration from the perspective of narrative structure mainly discusses the different ethical manifestations caused by different narrative structures,which belongs to the category of narrative ethics research.Narrative ethics is a research level of narrative ethics,which mainly explores the moral significance of narrative forms.In the existing research,there are many achievements on the viewpoint,person,narrative time and narrative intervention in the narrative form,but the narrative structure is still blank.Therefore,starting from the narrative structure,with the help of the research methods of text ethics,narrative ethics and text close reading,the paper starts with the problem,and then distinguishes the two types of linear structure and nonlinear structure for discussion respectively.The paper is divided into three chapters.The first chapter combs the questions of narrative,structure,narrative structure and ethics,narrative ethics,narrative structure ethics and so on.Narration,as a kind of life activity born to human beings,is the preservation and creation of past time and the solidification and expression of past experience.Narration is inseparable from human activities,and the relationship between nature and ethics is inseparable.Structure,as a verb,refers to how the parts of the whole are collocated and connected.The arrangement of structure expresses a specific order and idea.Ethics itself is an order.The structure of the narrative text,that is,the arrangement of each part of the narrative,the selection and connection of the events,contains the author’s ethical intention and causes the readers’ ethical feeling at the same time.Narrative structure can be divided into story structure and narrative structure.Story structure is the plot structure of the story.Narrative structure refers to the treatment of the story in narrative skills.Narrative structure corresponds to story structure,that is,narrative according to the occurrence and development order of events,that is,linear structure;Narrative structure is opposite to story structure,that is,breaking the time and causal order of the story,breaking and even canceling events,and causal fracture,that is,nonlinear structure.The second chapter discusses the ethical implication of linear structure.The recognition of the linear structure of social order is the recognition of the linear structure of social order.Then it is divided into three types: single line structure,double line structure and circular structure.Single line structure is the plot type of single clue.As the most basic narrative type,the ethical logic of single line structure is causal ethics.Causality is a way for human beings to understand the world,but causality in narration is different from natural causality.It is an empirical causality.The thought of karma is the most common ethical expression in classical narration.Double line structure is a structure type with two or more clues.The expansion of narrative context generates the dialogue between ethics,and the contrast and interleaving between stories form the contrast and interleaving of ethics.The contrast double line structure is the possibility for stories to show ethical differences and construct ethical reflection under the relationship of mutual mirrors.The temporal double line structure is a narrative that shuttles between the past and the present to express different ethical feelings.Multi line narration highlights the synchronic relationship between multiple characters and scenes in the diachronic evolution of the story,and its ethical face is more rich and complex.Circular narration refers to the form of narrative clues,which means that the end of narration returns to the starting point and conveys a circular ethical concept.The circular story structure is cheaper to show the ethics of historical cycle and tragic fate.The circular narrative structure forms a ring at the beginning and end with a super story level narrative,which expresses the narrator’s aria and Reflection on the story,and enhances the aesthetic and ethical effect of the story.The third chapter explores the ethical implication of nonlinear narrative structure.Nonlinear structure is a prominent feature of modern narrative.It is the expression of the modern ethical spirit of doubt,absurdity and irrationality.The massive structure divides the story into plates and fragments of different sizes,destroys the integrity of the story,and expresses the ethical logic that history is not subject to any moral order.The structure of stream of consciousness is a kind of bioethical expression in modern society.After World Wars and various crises and conflicts,modern people no longer trust the rationality of the external order,but pays attention to the inner secrets of the characters and expresses a view of literary truth different from realism.In the space structure,the space becomes the structure factor,the performance personage certain characteristic or uses the space to promote the narrative process.The spatial structure is good at expressing the ethical choice and reflection of the characters under special circumstances.To sum up,the linear narrative structure takes the causal ethics as the base to express the unity of moral logic and natural logic.The nonlinear narrative structure breaks the causal logic and conveys the absurd,disordered and broken ethical meaning.As an activity of shaping the world with discourse,narration contains human life experience and values.As the shape of narration,the structure must have its meaning,and the ethical implication of narrative structure arises from it.
