The Ming Imperial Kiln Factory was a kiln site that produced porcelain exclusively for imperial use.In the production process of imperial porcelain,defective products were inevitably produced,and these ceramics became known as "substandard imperial porcelain".These defective imperial products could not be used for imperial purposes,and during different periods of the Ming dynasty,there were different systems for dealing with such porcelain.This article takes substandard imperial porcelain from the Ming Imperial Kiln Factory as a clue to examine the evolution of the system for dealing with substandard imperial porcelain during the Ming dynasty.From the three aspects of production date,inscriptions,and appearance,this article explores substandard imperial porcelain that flowed out of the Imperial Kiln Factory after being publicly sold.This article analyzes the development and changes of folk kiln porcelain shapes and decorations in the Ming Dynasty,and analyzes the overall characteristics of the appearance of folk kiln porcelain in different periods of the Ming Dynasty based on folk kiln utensils with characteristics of the times;At the end of the period,the shape and decoration of folk kilns have been greatly improved.Folk kilns have overstepped the hierarchy and imitated the shape and decoration of official kiln porcelain.The article finally draws a conclusion: the imperial kiln sub-color porcelain system in the Ming Dynasty affected the appearance of Ming dynasty folk kiln porcelain,and the great changes in the disposal methods of imperial kiln sub-color porcelain triggered changes in the shape and decoration of folk kiln porcelain.
