The blue and white porcelain has a unique history. It has been appeared since the Tang Dynasty, developed maturely in the Yuan Dynasty, and become the mainstream of the Jingdezhen porcelain product in Ming Dynasty. In Ming Dynasty, Jingdezhen folk kiln not only produced the practical crude pottery for ordinary people, but also supplied magnificent and expensive fine ceramics for the wealthy people, as well as porcelain for overseas trade. The folk kiln's product had various themes of its decoration. They were not restricted in the technique and the style. The style of their decoration is simple; the Ming Dynasty folk kiln has made a magnificent achievement in art.The most important and unique secret of performance is using"the line", including"linearity"consciousness and"line"–the expressing method. The line has a strong Oriental taste, the same line of decoration can be found in the Chinese ancient ceramic art,different carving and painting tools created different lines on ceramics. Blue and white porcelains in Ming Dynasty folk kilns also used the lines to form the decoration. Its lines are lively and make the most common household vessels become beautiful art works.This thesis analyzed and summed up the characteristics of the line art of the Jingdezhen folk blue and white in Ming Dynasty by finding out its developmental trajectory and living environment.The relevant concepts are defined in the first chapter, and the particularity and the points of researching the line art of Jingdezhen folk blue and white in Ming Dynasty are pointed out.In the second chapter, the different characteristics of the folk blue and white line art in three stages of Ming dynasty was descript from the angle of art form. The folk blue and white art is constructed by both"substantial material " and "culture material". Social environment, philosophy, aesthetic tastes and the material media all influenced the style of the line art of the folk blue and white. As well as the commodity function and the royal kiln's influence can not be ignored. The line art also depend on the activities of the painter, and the unique mode of production, as well as the techniques, tools and so on.All these factors are deeply analyzed in this paper. And the general art characteristics of the line art of Jingdezhen folk blue and white in Ming Dynasty are summarized in the last chapter.
