With the rapid development of society, the pace of life is accelerating, and work, study, and life continue to make people feel that time is not enough, time is becoming less, and ’ time poverty ’ seems to fill the entire society.College students are no exception.Due to the particularity of the university stage, college students have to face more things such as learning,community,hobbies,library,tourism,part-time,career development, etc.,and often feel busy.College students need to make their own choices in the face of different things in the only four years of college life. What kind of impact will time poverty have on college students? According to the theoretical model of time poverty affecting intertemporal decision-making behavior, time poverty will lead to individual time poverty thinking, and then have a negative impact on intertemporal decision-making behavior through individual cognition and emotion. On the one hand, time poverty will occupy most of the individual ’s cognitive resources and change the individual ’s perception of time.On the other hand, time poverty causes individual negative emotions such as anxiety, which affects the individual ’s value judgment of options. As a positive emotion, awe can make individuals perceive more time. The construal level theory holds that positive emotions play a positive role in individuals ’intertemporal choice, making individuals pay more attention to the value attributes of options and prefer long-term benefits. Therefore, this study intends to explore the impact of time poverty on intertemporal decision-making,and the impact of awe and time poverty on intertemporal decisionmaking. This study starts with two studies.Study 1 explores the relationship between time poverty and intertemporal decisionmaking, and uses experimental methods to conduct research.Pre-experiment a: The results show that the modified time poverty scale has good reliability and validity.Preexperiment b: In order to test the effectiveness of time poverty manipulation,54 college students were randomly divided into time poverty manipulation group and time poverty control group by Trier social stress test(TSST).The results showed that the time poverty of the time poverty manipulation group was significantly higher than that of the time poverty control group, indicating that the Trier Social Stress Test(TSST)variant successfully initiated the time poverty of the participants.Formal experiment: To investigate the relationship between time poverty and intertemporal choice,a singlefactor between-subject experimental design was adopted. The independent variable was time poverty(time poverty manipulation group / time poverty control group),and the dependent variable was the choice of intertemporal choice task experimental questionnaire.94 college students were randomly assigned to the time-poor manipulation group and the control group, and completed the Trier Social Emergency Test(TSST)variant, and then the subjects completed the intertemporal decision-making task experiment questionnaire. The results show that time poverty is negatively correlated with intertemporal decision-making and negatively predicts intertemporal decision-making behavior.Study 2 explores the moderating role of awe in time poverty and intertemporal choice, which is divided into pre-experiment and formal experiment.Pre-experiment: In order to test the effectiveness of awe video materials,49 college students were randomly assigned to awe priming group and awe non-priming group. The results showed that the awe score of the awe priming group was significantly higher than that of the awe non-priming group, indicating that the awe video material can effectively prime awe.Formal experiment: To examine the moderating role of awe in time poverty and inter-temporal choice.202 college students were selected.A 2(time poverty: manipulation group / control group)×2(awe: priming group / non-priming group)between-subjects experimental design was used. The dependent variable was the inter-temporal decision-making selection task, and the E-prime was used to compile the inter-temporal decision-making selection task. The results show that awe alleviates the negative impact of time poverty on inter-temporal decision-making.Conclusion:(1)Time poverty makes individuals prefer immediate rewards in intertemporal decision-making behavior and make impulsive choices that are detrimental to long-term development.(2)Awe plays a moderating role in time poverty and intertemporal choice.
