A Study On Althusser's "Symptom Reading

In the 1960 s on the European continent,the humanistic trend softened Marxist philosophy into an abstract non scientific provision of human nature,totality,and alienation,causing Marxism to lose its strong fighting power.In this context,Althusser proposed the slogan of "defending Marx",thus proposing symptomatic reading methods.Althusser believed that people cannot discover the true theory because they are limited to the old problem form,as if they are firmly confined by shackles.To see things that cannot be seen,one can only change the problem form.Only by finding the blank spaces and silence under the text can new problems be discovered on the basis of new problemsolving.By exploring the inherent meaning of the text,we can gain a deeper understanding of the text.The purpose of this paper is to sort out the ideological history of symptomatic reading,and then to analyze the main contents of symptomatic reading,and finally to analyze the practical significance of symptomatic reading,in order to better apply to the interpretation of the text.This article is divided into three chapters.The first chapter mainly explains the historical context of the emergence of symptomatic reading method,and conducts a historical study of symptomatic reading method through the dual development thread of world situation and philosophical history.The second chapter mainly explains the content of symptomatic reading method.By comparing innocent reading with guilty reading,barrier reading,and symptomatic reading,the content of symptomatic reading is discussed.Through the interpretation of symptomatic reading method,it combs the ideological development of problem-based and structuralism epistemology.The third chapter mainly explains the contributions and limitations of symptomatic reading.Through Spinoza’s influence on Althusser’s ideology,the contribution of symptomatic reading to the development of Marxism is demonstrated.
