Wang Chong is a famous writer, thinker and philosopher of the Eastern Han Dynasty, and we can find that Wang Chong’s work "Lun Heng" contains the idea of natural aesthetics with materialist characteristics, and the word "nature" is mentioned 71 times in "Lun Heng",which shows its important role in Wang Chong’s philosophy and aesthetics. In order to fill this gap,I chose to study Wang Chong’s natural aesthetic view.Studying Wang Chong’s natural aesthetics not only enables a more accurate and profound understanding of Wang Chong’s thoughts, indicating his unique position in the history of Chinese thought, but also has certain enlightening significance for the current natural ecological problems and important reference value for many social problems faced by humanity. This paper mainly discusses the ins and outs, ontological basis theoretical claims, value limitations and many other aspects of Wang Chong’s view of natural aesthetics, and the main text is divided into the following four chapters:Chapter 1 aims to sort out the social background and ideological sources of Wang Chong’s natural aesthetic view, the first section lists the social, political, economic and cultural background of Wang Chong’s life, analyzes the general context in which his aesthetic ideas are produced,The second section starts with Wang Chong’s personal experience and explores the impact of his personal experiences on his thoughts and creations, discusses the impact of his personal encounters on his thoughts and creations, and the third section discusses Wang Chong’s inheritance of previous generations of thinkers, revealing the direct source of his natural aesthetic thoughts.Chapter 2 explores the ontological basis of Wang Chong’s natural aesthetics.Wang Chong’s natural aesthetics is based on "nature",rooted in "Qi",and centered on "true"."nature","Qi" and "true" together constitute the ontological basis of Wang Chong’s natural aesthetics, which can reflect the essence of his aesthetic ideas.Chapter 3 is the core part of the paper, which discusses in detail the theoretical propositions of Wang Chong’s natural aesthetics.Firstly,it discusses the independence of natural beauty.Wang Chong advocates for the restoration of personified nature to pure nature. In this regard,Wang Chong proposed the idea of "all things self transforming" and made a noble interpretation of "Tian",Transforming the so-called "Tian" of gods and the "auspicious omen" symbolizing the holy king from being worshipped to an independent aesthetic object, making natural objects attached to the "Tian" a pure aesthetic object. The second is the beauty of harmony between humans and nature. In Wang Chong’s view, harmony is not only the foundation for the stable growth and development of all things, but also an essential condition for generating beauty. The harmonious realm between humans and nature constitutes a beautiful natural aesthetic landscape. The third is the beauty of human and natural forms.Wang Chong takes specific biological forms as the aesthetic object, and takes reality, nature, and nature as the aesthetic standards. The aesthetic objects discussed not only include natural scenery, but also human form.Chapter 4 discusses the value and limitations of Wang Chong’s view of natural aesthetics. In terms of value,it mainly discusses the influence of Wang Chong’s natural aesthetic view on ancient Chinese literary and artistic aesthetic thought, scientific thought, and its enlightenment to today. In terms of limitations,Wang Chong’s concept of "nature" is limited by the times, and the cause of everything is attributed to "Yuan Qi",but also affected by personal limitations,Wang Chong for the causes of some special natural phenomena are completely based on personal experience to explain, the conclusions reached are limited by their own practical ability and life experience, and there are some chaotic contradictions in natural aesthetic thought.
