Research On Wang Chong's Epistemology

In the Han Dynasty society,from Han Wu Emperor's expansion of the territory and the rule of martial arts,there was an urgent need for a thought form to be compatible with the autocratic system of great unity.The whole society had been under the theological system since Dong Zhongshu established the theological teleology of heaven and human induction,the Shitu cabinet conference established the theological world view in the form of official studies,and then the final formation of the White Tiger Tong Yi came into being.When the superstition of prophecy was rising,the society was full of various kinds of misrepresentation and falsehood.At that time,Wang Chong,with his extraordinary courage,held high the critical banner of "illusory",insisted on materialist epistemology,exposed and criticized the false statements of society,such as divination,superstition,superstition,etc.to seek the truth,which played an important role in the development of anti theological classics and later Chinese philosophy.Wang Chong was well-read and a kind of nonconformist.He devoted his whole life to the book "Lun Heng" in which he critically inherited and carried forward the spirit of the hundred schools of thought in the pre Qin period and the thinkers of the Han Dynasty,then formed a complete set of understanding system,which had an important place in the history of Chinese epistemology.Wang Chong embarked from the way of learning knowledge.He believed that the source of cognition depended on the contact between the sense organs such as the mouth,eyes,ears,eyes and the objective things to gain perceptual experience.Then he increased the perceptual experience to rational experience through the logical experience of analogous inference and causal association.Finally he proved the correctness of the acquired rational experience through the way of "validation".In order to verify the accuracy of understanding,Wang Chong's epistemology which insisted on the materialist epistemological path from reality to reality,was a powerful counterattack for advocating the idealist Transcendentalism of "God and prophet" and "born knowledge".Wang Chong emphasized the importance of knowledge in his epistemology.He believed that the purpose of cognition was to use it in a highly scientific way.It played an important role in promoting the development of ancient Chinese epistemology and the transformation of Chinese philosophy.Although he failed to get rid of the limitations of the times and classes,he had defects and deficiencies in theory,which could not be hidden.For Wang Chong,a unique thinker,we can neither flatter blindly nor maliciously depreciate.We should evaluate his philosophical contribution through historical and objective evaluation.
