Emotional problems occupy a central position in Max Scheler’s philosophy. This paper tries to examine Scheler’s theory of emotion through the perspective of value phenomenology.First of all, this paper sorts out the origin of Scheler’s theory of emotion:in the historical background of the rapid social changes caused by the rapid development of capitalism and the highlight of human spiritual crisis,Scheler sees the inability of traditional ethics to solve modernity. After absorbing Christian-related ideas, combining the theory of intentionality and phenomenological methods,he tried to explain the congenital association of emotion, the intentionality of emotion and value, and the hierarchy of emotion, these prove that people’s emotional activity has strict selfsufficiency and regularity that does not come from reason. He made it possible to establish emotion as a material value ethics, and bridges the rigid dichotomy of rationality and emotion in western philosophy. The focus of this paper is to examine how Scheler constructed an innate, absolute value ethics based on emotion.Scheler, with intentional feelings,preference-partial evil,love-hate the three different levels of emotion, gradually reveals the objective value of facts and its order, thus established ethics established the emotional guidance of moral consciousness and behavior, the connotation of the objective value of emotional ethics present ethics under the phenomenological horizon of the new form.Another focus of this paper is to explore how to hear and solve the ethical crisis of modern capitalism with emotion.Scheler attributed the essence of the modernity crisis to the capitalist spirit and temperament full of "resentment" emotion, which overturned the objective value order and caused a serious moral and cultural dilemma in the modern society. In order to rebuild the society’s value order of harmony,Scheler believes that modern people need to regain their belief in God,awaken people’s spiritual pursuit of transcendence, share weal and woe in the love of God,and return to their spiritual home under the guidance of the order of love. The emotion theory in the perspective of value phenomenology is a valuable ideological resource, and there are many unique ideas worth exploring in theory and practice, but at the same time, the limitations of its thoughts cannot be ignored,so we need to treat it critically.
