A Report On C-E Simulated Simultaneous Interpreting Of The EE Industry Week Forum Under The Guidance Of The Interpretive Theory

The material for this interpreting practice is from the energy chapter of The EE Industry Week Forum organized by the Executive Education Center of School of Economics&Management of Tsinghua University.The forum explores the development blueprint and flexible key technologies of new power systems in the context of dual carbon goals,and proposes development suggestions and prospects for the construction of new power systems.Under the guidance of interpretive theory,the author conducts simulated simultaneous interpreting of the keynote speech to tentatively explore the skills and strategies for forum interpreting.After analyzing and reflecting on the transcript of this interpreting task,the author finds that the main issue in the output is word-for-word interpreting.In order to reduce or avoid this problem in future interpreting practice,the author has decided to conduct a case study on deverbalization and propose corresponding interpreting strategies under the guidance of interpretive theory,such as paraphrase,amplification,omission,recoganization and transformation.The author finds that these strategies are effective in reproducing the meaning of the source text and improving the quality of interpreting output.Through a detailed description and case analysis of this interpreting practice,the author hopes to get rid of the linguistic forms and grasp the meaning conveyed by the speaker in future interpreting practice,in order to deliver more accurate and understandable interpreting output for the audience.It is hoped that the experience summarized in the report will be helpful to the study of similar forum interpreting practice.
