A Report On The Simultaneous Interpreting For The International Forum On New Energy And Financial Cooperation

The report is based on the author's simultaneous interpreting experience for the 14th China International Forum on New Energy and Financial Cooperation held in Jinan on 3rd April 2019.The author's main work in the forum was to provide the simultaneous interpreting service for four keynote speakers.The report includes the background of the forum,the introduction and preparation of the task,the challenges during the interpreting task and the interpreting process.With the principle of syntactic linearity as its framework,the report analyzes the application of the strategies of segmentation,addition,conversion and simplification in the interpreting process.The report also demonstrates the process of how the author solves the difficulties such as the translation of lengthy sentences and complex structures in specific examples under the guidance of the above principle and strategies.It is expected that this report can serve as references for other interpreters,helping them to be aware of the importance of the principle of syntactic linearity for the simultaneous interpreting and to flexibly use the interpreting strategies.Besides,any MTI students who intend to become qualified interpreters should improve their bilingual competence,enrich their encyclopedic knowledge,intensify their psychological qualities and build up their professional standards.
