A Study Of Deception Stories In Short Vernacular Novels Of The Late Ming And Early Qing Dynasties

The late Ming and early Qing dynasties were an important period of social and historical transformation,as well as an important period for the development of short vernacular novels,during which there were more scam stories in short vernacular novels,which had a unique narrative mode and artistic aesthetic value,showing the people’s situation in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties from one side.The study of such novels can not only expand the breadth and depth of the study of short vernacular novels in the Ming and Qing dynasties,but also have certain social practical significance.This paper is composed of three parts:preface,main text,and conclusion.The conclusion review in the introduction part focuses on the existing research results in academia and the basic issues that need to be studied in this paper,and points out the meaning and research value of this paper.There are three chapters in the text.Chapter one describes the types of scam stories,and discusses the characteristics and common methods of each type of scam based on the background of Ming and Qing society and the author’s intentional tendency,showing the overall picture of the scam stories in Ming and Qing dynasty society.According to the type of theme,the scam stories are divided into property fraud,lure and deception,financial and deception,and others,property fraud refers to the scam story in which the property interests of the deceived person are lost,including"money" and "things",according to the nature of the content,it is divided into gold and silver scams and commodity goods scams,lure deception refers to scam stories in which scammers set up by hue,and according to the nature of content,they are divided into adultery scams and marriage scams.The second chapter further discusses the structural characteristics and narrative characteristics of scam stories,and explores their unique connotations and significance.Using the principle of story structure and narratology method,starting from the identity of the liar who runs through the main body of the story,the liars are divided into professional liars and amateur liars according to the professional perspective,and it is pointed out that the liar group has diverse occupations,complex identity composition,and diversified characteristics.Secondly,starting from the social attributes of scammers,the reasons for the high success rate of scams are discussed,pointing out that scammers are masters of disguise,and revealing the identities of scammers.Combined with the order of story development again,the plot and characters of the scam story are marked by dividing the narrative unit,and the scam story is divided into the mode of "encounter-trap-sweetness-damage",and the main characters are divided into Subject,Object,and Helper,pointing out that each character corresponds to different functional items,discussing and analyzing the functional items used in the scam story.The nature and characteristics of the characters in the sequence and the story and the role they play in the story,dig deep into the nature of the story elements,analyze their role in the narrative story and what their significance is in highlighting the theme.Finally,it lists two special types of scams,serial scams and anti-water scams,discusses their narrative characteristics and aesthetic significance,and strengthens the theme and highlights the role of social reality,introduces the ingenious suspense and layered deception of serial scams,which not only shows the full picture of the old situation in waves,but also shows the characteristics of the "mystery" of the scam novel through the distortion of time and space,and the anti-water scam is to break the monotonous structure of the novel,reconstruct the reader’s cognitive structure established in the early stage of the story,and make the scam story full of "novel" aesthetic effects.The third chapter combines the story of this matter to discuss the inheritance and new changes of the previous generation of scam novels in depth.Through the comparison of scam novels and Ben materials,it is pointed out that scam novels are basically the same as Ben stories in terms of main plot and character identity,and at the same time,from the aspects of replacing the background of character identities,plot expansion,and increasing story lines,further summarize and summarize the innovation of scam novels in terms of theme,content and narrative techniques in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties,and deeply analyze the diversified narrative art of scam novels.As a unique type of novel,cheater novel occupies an indispensable role in the field of ancient Chinese novel with its unique short story style and vernacular writing form.In this paper in the late Ming short vernacular novel scam story as the research object,based on the text,on the basis of previous research to further expand the scope of the topic,from the content of the scam story,structure and narrative art perspective of comprehensive discussion,combined with the story structure,narrative,and psychology theory,establish "meet—trap—sweet—damaged or a new round of fraud" story development mode,further analysis of the novel connotation,nature and narrative characteristics,grasp the overall appearance.In addition,this paper discusses the inheritance and development of fraudulent novels in the previous generation of materials from the perspectives of theme implication and plot,which makes us realize the literary value and historical value of this kind of novels in the history of ancient Chinese novels.
