Background: Nowadays, the dual-earner family has gradually become the main family economic model in China.China has long been affected by the traditional gender role division of labor between men and women. The traditional gender role requires men to earn money to support their families and succeed in their careers, while women are required to take care of their families and be good wives and mothers. However, the increasing emphasis on gender equality and the popularity of the dual-earner family economic model have put forward higher requirements for both men and women in work and family. Objective:This study takes dual-earner families as the research object, explores the impact of ambivalent sexism on parenting stress, constructs an actor-partner interdependence model of marital satisfaction between ambivalent sexism and parenting stress of dual-earner couples, and analyzes and discusses the status and gender differences of ambivalent sexism, marital satisfaction and parenting stress. Methods: The study followed the principle of informed consent and distributed questionnaires to parents of students from grade 3 to grade 8 in a certain area of Sichuan Province. The questionnaires included general questionnaires, ambivalent sexism scale, marital satisfaction scale and parenting stress scale.Finally,315 pairs of valid samples were collected.SPSS 24.0 was used to enter, screen and sort out data, and difference test and correlation analysis were conducted.AMOS 24.0 was used to analyze the actor-partner interdependence model and path analysis.Results:(1)except that there was no significant correlation between wife’s benevolent sexism and marital satisfaction of husband and wife(p > 0.05),other variables were significantly correlated(p<0.05);(3)In the actor effect, the path of wife’s marital satisfaction from wife’s hostile sexism to the wife’s parenting stress, the path of husband’s marital satisfaction from the husband’s benevolent sexism to the husband’s parenting stress, and the path of husband’s marital satisfaction from the husband’s hostile sexism to the husband’s parenting stress were significant;and in the partner effect, the path of husband’s marital satisfaction from the husband’s benevolent sexism to the wife’s parenting pressure, the path of wife’s marital satisfaction from husband’s benevolent sexism to wife’s parenting stress, the path of husband’s marital satisfaction from husband’s hostile sexism to wife’s parenting stress, and the path of husband’s marital satisfaction from wife’s hostile sexism to husband’s parenting stress were significant(p<0.05),while the other mediating effects were not significant(p>0.05).Conclusion: ambivalent sexism can not only directly affect the parenting stress, but also affect the parenting stress through the mediation of marital satisfaction.(1)Except that the wife’s benevolent sexism and the marital satisfaction of the couple are not significant, the ambivalent of the dual-earner couple are related to their parenting pressure and marital satisfaction.(2)In the binary relationship, the marital satisfaction of dual-earner couples is partially significant in the actor and partner effects between ambivalent sexism and parenting pressure.
