| As the intrinsic and essential property of discourses,intertextuality has been widely concerned by linguistic scholars because of its prevalence in various kinds of discourses.From the perspective of Linguistic Adaptation Theory,this study explores intertextuality in medical popular science discourses and analyzes how it adapts to the mental world,social world and physical world to achieve persuasion and publicity,thus promoting the interaction between Linguistic Adaptation Theory and intertextuality.Meanwhile,considering the comprehensiveness and generalizability of the classification,this paper combines Xin Bin and Wu Jianguo’s classification of specific intertextuality and interdiscursivity,and applies them to explore the intertextual types of medical popular science discourses.At the same time,this study combines Linguistic Adaptation Theory with the specific research practice to analyze how intertextuality adapts to relevant contextual factors to achieve communicative goals.Through the observation and analysis of medical popular science discourses,this study draws the following conclusions: First,this study divides the intertextuality involved in medical popular science discourses into specific intertextuality and interdiscursivity.Second,in order to better disseminate medical knowledge,the intertextuality chosen by writers adapts to the mental world,social world and physical world.Through the specific analysis of the intertextuality in medical popular science discourses,this study hopes to expand the research field of intertextuality and broaden the exploration of medical popular science discourses,so as to provide inspiration for the research of intertextuality in medical popular science discourses. |
