| The concept of "subtext" is widely used in artistic expression,including linguistics,art,and psychology.In performance art,"subtext"plays an important role in establishing the actor’s psychological factors,such as their "sense of reality" and "belief." It exists in all lines,and a simple sentence can have multiple underlying meanings,also known as implications.In a dance performance,"subtext" refers to the hidden"language" or meaning behind the dance movements.The presentation of dance performance is based on the choreography of the dance work,but the dance actor’s re-creation and redesign of the work’s intention and actions on the original foundation is the natural presenter of the work within "living" soul and "active" body.This subtext in dance performance is even more meaningful and profound than external dance movements.This paper focuses on the "subtext" in dance performance as the research object.Based on the author’s works,"Stepping on Snow" and"Nan Ni," and with the theoretical support of art,psychology,linguistics,and other related theories,the paper uses literature research,comparative research,and empirical summary to explore the research on the "subtext"in dance performance and proposes a path design for the "subtext" in dance performance.It also summarizes and analyzes the practical application of "subtext" in realistic works and freehand works.The main text of this article is divided into three chapters.Chapter one,starts with theoretical research,explaining the essence and characteristics of dance performance theory and laying the foundation for the study on the "subtext." Then reviews,compares,and analyzes the concept and related system of "subtext," and explains the role and significance of "subtext" in dance performance.Chapter two,magnifies the design basis and path design of the "subtext" in dance performance,and proposes different features of realistic and freehand dance works from the perspective of "subtext." Chapter three,uses comparative research and empirical summary methods to conduct a case analysis of the practical application of "subtext" in realistic works and freehand works respectively.In conclusion,it summarizes the value of"subtext" in dance performance.This research aims to separate and analyze the methodological ideas behind how to better establish and concern the "subtext" in dance performance,investigate the "subtext" behind the dance language,and involve with dance performance practice.Based on multiple practices,this method is systematized to provide dance actors with a specific and effective performance method.It is expected that dance actors can actively explore the "subtext" of the character’s inner thoughts and emotions,use the application of "subtext" to externalize the dancer’s real emotions from the body sensation,and improve the authenticity of the dance performance. |
