Shandong was an important strategic region of the Jin Dynasty. There were constant wars and unstable social conditions in the early Jin Dynasty,so the Jin government took religious belief as a tool of enlightenment to appease people. At the same time,Shandong,as the birthplace of Confucianism and the core area of Quanzhen religion, was also one of the centers of Buddhism in the Jin Dynasty with a strong atmosphere of religious belief, and its regional religious development played an important role in the religious history of the Jin Dynasty. This paper hopes to conduct a comprehensive study on religious belief in Shandong during the Jin Dynasty by combing relevant historical materials. The Jin rulers pursued the Buddhist worship policy, which was manifested in the large-scale construction of temples and the frequent holding of Buddhist activities in Shandong.Through the increasing number of Buddhist temples and active participation in Buddhist activities, the masses of people became closer to Buddhism and deepened their belief in Buddhism. The important position of famous temples and eminent monks in Shandong in the Jin Dynasty also reflected the prosperity and development of Buddhism in Shandong.Under the special social background of the Jin Dynasty in Shandong region, the new Taoism developed rapidly in Shandong region, especially the Quanzhen religion founded in the Jin Dading years, the initial denomination inheritance and missionary activities are based in Shandong, missionary activities mainly include Daxing enlightenment,Jiao festival and held rituals, etc.,Shandong Quanzhen disciples also made important contributions to the future development of Quanzhen religion.Folk beliefs in Shandong during the Jin Dynasty mainly inherited from the previous dynasties, including belief in personality god and natural god,and there were various kinds of beliefs.People actively devoted themselves to devout belief in gods through building shrines and deities, offering incense and tributes and participating in temple fairs, etc. However, the official attitude of the Jin Dynasty towards folk belief was dual, advocating and supporting "formal sacrifice".The main purpose of cracking down on "prostitution" was to maintain the orthodox belief bearing the will of the state and consolidate ideological unity and political rule. The three religions of Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism developed together in Shandong during the Jin Dynasty.Driven by the national policy and the theory of "three religions in one",the three religions communicated closely with each other in Shandong, and the three religions theories developed in the continuous integration.
