With the development and progress of era,there is practical and theoretical basis to cultivate students’ thinking quality in English course in primary school.Firstly,people give more expectations and demands on English subjects.Cultivation of students’ thinking quality was raised in core competence of English subject and “ Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standard(2022 Edition)”.Thinking quality is one part of core competence of English subject,it should undertake the task of thinking quality cultivation.At present,thinking quality cultivation is absent.It limited students’ thinking quality in some extent.It is necessary to change the subject concept and develop students’ thinking quality in teaching.Secondly,our country points out thinking quality is an indispensable excellent quality of innovative talents.In addition,this thesis gets theoretical support from the guidance of Bloom’s cognitive goal taxonomy theory and constructivism theory.Bloom emphasizes that the process of cognitive development from easy to difficult,it includes knowing,understanding,application,analysis,synthesis and evaluation.Constructivism theory believes that knowledge is a kind of explanation,different learners have different understandings,the process of learning is the process of divergent thinking.Both theories put forward the requirements for the cultivation of students’ thinking.However,through literature review,it is found that the cultivation of students’ thinking quality in primary school English reading teaching is not ideal.Therefore,the author believes that it is practical and theoretical significance to start the research on students’ thinking quality in primary school English reading teaching.The core questions of this thesis are :(1)What is the current situation of English reading teaching and students’ thinking quality development in primary school?(2)What are the reasons for the current situation of students’ thinking quality cultivation in primary school ?(3)What are the strategies and approaches to promote students’ thinking quality development in English reading teaching in primary school? On the basis of literature review,this thesis launches an investigation with guidance of Bloom’s cognitive goal taxonomy theory and constructivism theory.In this thesis questionnaire survey serves as main investigation method.The thesis includes six parts,including introduction,literature review,theoretical basis and core concept definition,status quo investigation,status quo reasons and improvement strategies,and conclusion.Firstly,it introduces the background of topic-selection,research reason,research significance,research methods and research problems.The second part is literature review.The main contents are the concept and cultivation of thinking quality,literature review of primary school English reading teaching domestic and abroad and literature review summary.The third part is concept definition and theoretical basis.The main contents are the definition of “thinking quality ” “English reading teaching”,“English reading teaching in primary schools”“Bloom’s cognitive goals taxonomy ”and “constructivism learning theory”.The fourth part is core part of this thesis,mainly covering three parts: survey design and implementation,data collection and collation,survey results and analysis,including the analysis of the current situation and reasons of thinking quality training in English reading teaching in primary school.The fifth part is improvement strategy of thinking quality cultivation in English reading teaching in primary school.Its main content is to put forward strategies and ways to promote thinking quality of primary school students.The sixth part is conclusion.It mainly includes research conclusions,deficiencies and prospects.After investigation and analysis,the following conclusions are drawn: The investigation finds that there are some deficiencies in cultivation of thinking quality in the current English reading teaching in primary school.(1)The teaching objectives ignore cultivation of thinking quality;(2)Teachers’ thinking quality consciousness is weak;(3)Thinking quality training activity in class is lack;(4)Thinking quality is lack in evaluation.It is found that the main reasons are the neglect of thinking quality in teaching objectives,the omission of thinking quality in teaching material design,the lack of theories and methods in cultivating teachers’ thinking quality,and the undiversified teaching evaluation.In view of the current situation and reasons,author puts forward several strategies:(1)Studying text in deep depth to explore cultivation point of thinking quality;(2)Designing questions to explore students’ thinking space;(3)Constructing thinking activities to integrate various approaches in development of think quality;(4)Changing the teaching evaluation to establish the “evaluation to promote thinking”system,so as to improve students’ quality thinking.
