Modern economics combines sociology and statistics, and the writing of financial report requires objectivity and rigor. In order to contain as much information as possible, and highlight the professionalism of the text, long sentences are often used in the text. This report first introduces that the translated material is the Global Financial Stability Report published by the International Monetary Fund in October 2021,explains the task background and summarizes the characteristics of financial English. In view of the frequent deconstruction and reconstruction of long sentences in Chinese translation, from the perspective of English-Chinese contrastive linguistics, the author recognizes that language form, syntactic structure, writing preference and logical coherence are the main factors leading to deconstruction and reconstruction in the translation. In terms of the language form,English and Chinese are analytical and comprehensive languages respectively.Syntactically,English sentences are clustered while Chinese sentences are scattered; In writing preference,English emphasizes static,Chinese emphasizes dynamic, and the overuse of nouns in English makes the subject of sentences unclear; Finally,in terms of logical coherence, hypotaxis is adopted in English and parataxis is adopted in Chinese.According to these four factors, the author summarizes four strategies of deconstruction and reconstruction by the inductive sorting.By adjusting the word order, the adverbial clause in the original sentence is put at the beginning of the sentence, and the attributives is placed near the head noun;By adjusting syntax, complex English long sentences are transformed into Chinese run-on sentences, and long English sentences with spatial structure are transformed into Chinese sentences with linear structure;By reconstruction, the agent or the event hidden in the static nouns becomes a dynamic verb after the deconstruction;By analyzing the logical relations in the original sentences, such as parallelism, causality, etc.,conjunctions are appropriately deleted in Chinese translation, and the logical relations are reflected by the implied semantics between sentences. This translation practice report uses English-Chinese contrastive linguistics to provide some strategies and ideas for deconstruction and reconstruction of long sentences in Chinese translation of financial texts,so that readers in China can read and understand authoritative foreign financial reports more simply and clearly, which is conducive to academic exchanges.
