| Research purpose and background:During the COVID-19 epidemic,a large number of people were sent to centralized quarantine centers for isolation, including a large number of elderly people. This vulnerable group is prone to negative emotions such as panic and anxiety during solitary isolation. Therefore,in order to alleviate the negative emotions of the elderly during the period of isolation, this study aims to design an effective product based on the isolation points during the COVID-19 epidemic and the pain points and needs of the isolated elderly, which will serve as a reference for future public health events,as well as some institutions like nursing homes and hospitals.Research methods:literature review, questionnaire survey, and field interviews.Research conclusions:(1)through research on various populations,it was found that during the quarantine period, quarantine workers rarely provided psychological counseling and communication to isolated people,or the communication was insufficient;(2)elderly people are prone to negative emotions such as panic and anxiety during quarantine due to various factors, such as underlying illnesses and lack of communication.Research outcomes:This study proposes a video calling device designed for elderly people to use in quarantine centers. On the one hand, elderly people can communicate with their families anytime and anywhere through video calls, and on the other hand,an online community for isolated people is designed to facilitate various online activities for the elderly.Although the epidemic has ended today, research results can still be applied to many scenarios that require care for the elderly, such as nursing homes, hospitals, welfare institutions, etc. |
