A Report On The E-C Translation Of FY 2009-2034 Unmanned Systems Integrated Roadmap (Excerpt)

Under the philosophy of overall national security of General Secretary Xi Jinping,it is of great strategic significance to timely understand foreign military strategic trends.The translation of foreign military documents is undoubtedly an effective way to obtain first-hand information on world military dynamics.Therefore,this translation practice applied the translation method of language-culture-communication three-dimensional transformation of Eco-translatology in the English-Chinese translation of FY 2009-2034 Unmanned Systems Integrated Roadmap that summarize the development plan for unmanned weapons including unmanned aircraft systems,unmanned surface vehicles,unmanned submersibles and unmanned ground vehicles of US military and finally obtained a translation of high integration fitness.This report gives a full description of the translation process from three parts: introduction to translation task description and Eco-translation Theory,translation case analysis and post-translation summary.Based on the translation cases,while deepening the understanding of the theory of Eco-translatology,this paper summarizes the English-Chinese translation skills of transformation of passive to active voice,inanimate to animate subject and logical explicitation from the perspective of language dimension,power distance,uncertainty avoidance and individual and collectivism transformation from the perspective of culture dimension,and literal translation and free translation transformation,logical chain adjustment and background information supplement from the perspective of communication dimension for military science and technology texts,in order to provide some reference for the translation of military science and technology texts in the future.
