Translation Practice Report Of "Syria In War" (Excerpt

This thesis is a translation practice report on Russian Soldiers,the Chapter IV of the book Syria in the Fire of War(Сирия в огне).The selected chapter focuses on the description of battlefield and heroic deeds of Russian soldiers in Syria Military Operations,and eulogizes the Russian warriors.According to the functional style,the selected text belongs to literary style,which has the basic features and linguistic characteristics.According to the stylistic features and linguistic characteristics of the text,this thesis explains the practical application of the four main translation methods and summarizes the translation experience,based on Barkhudarov’s equivalent translation theory and translation transformation theory so as to provide references for future translation practice.This thesis is consisted with six parts: Introduction,Chapter Ⅰ-Ⅳ,Conclusion.The introduction introduces the relevant background information and reasons for choosing this text to translate,and clarifies the translation goals.The first chapter is a general description of the original text,briefly introduces the content of the original text,and analyzes the stylistic and linguistic features of the original text.The second chapter describes the process of translation practice from three perspectives:pre-translation preparation,concrete translation and translation proofreading.The third chapter introduces the translation equivalence theory that guides this translation practice,and focuses on the analysis of Barkhudarov’s equivalent translation theory and translation transformation theory.The fourth chapter analyzes the application of the above theories in specific translation examples.The last part summarizes the experience gained in the translation process,points out the existing problems,and proposes targeted improvement methods.
