| Cultural memory theory studies not only the continuation of memory from the perspective of culture,but also the inheritance of culture from the perspective of memory.Memory and culture are inseparable in a sense,and they play a role in realizing collective identity in the long history of human inheritance.The status of the media in the study of cultural memory is becoming more and more important.In recent years,domestic animated films have been excavating and reproducing traditional mythological resources and have gained certain success.Myths are an important way for cultural memories to be displayed.The advantages of animation in the presentation of surrealist themes have a certain fit with myths.Myths are an excellent creative resource for animation films.What kind of cultural memory is constructed by domestic mythological animation movies,and how is it constructed?What is the significance of this construction and what are the problems? From the theory of cultural memory,this paper takes the domestic mythological animation movies from 2015 to 2021 as the research object and analyzes the connotation of cultural memory constructed by these movies firstly.Then the use of media and the mechanisms of action in the construction of cultural memory were analyzed combined with in-depth interviews with movie audiences.On this basis,the significance and problems of constructing cultural memory of domestic mythological animation movies are further discussed.The paper is mainly divided into the following four parts:The first chapter summarizes the development status of domestic mythological animation movies and analyzes the cultural memory connotation constructed in these movies.It mainly clarifies the connection between research objects and cultural memory.The second chapter analyzes the use of media in the process of constructing cultural memory of domestic mythological animation movies from 2015 to 2021 based on the first chapter.According to the theoretical framework of Jan Assmann and Aleida Assmann,the main five media include image,character,sound,location and body are analyzed mainly based on detailed text analysis of some representative movies and the results of interviews.These five media all play a unique role in the process of constructing cultural memory,which actively reproducing cultural memory,strengthening the depth of cultural memory,mobilizing the imagination of cultural memory,and providing scene space and imprint storage for it.It is related to their respective media characteristics.And they are not separated,but combined to play a role.The third chapter is a supplement to the second chapter,in-depth discussion of the construction mechanism of cultural memory of domestic mythological animation movies.Based on the results of investigations and interviews,the paper believes that the movie constructed the audience’s memory image mainly by three mechanisms including reconfigurability,temporal and spatial association,and group association.First,these movies constructed cultural memory depend on social conditions;second,these movies focused on using time and space association to activate the audience’s memory now;finally,the film also focused on highlighting the uniqueness and persistence of the Chinese nation to connect memory groups.Besides,memory and cultural meaning was deepened and expanded through interaction on these movies in the group.The fourth chapter is some thoughts on the construction of cultural memory of domestic mythological animation movies.This part expand discussion by combining the profound significance and existing problems of the movies’ construction of cultural memory discovered in the research process and the results of interviews,and based on the cultural memory theory of Jan Assmann.From a superficial perspective,domestic mythological animation movies from 2015 to 2021 are both innovative and limited in the choice of themes.On the one hand,they actively construct cultural memory,and on the other hand,they also lead to cultural amnesia.From a deeper perspective,domestic mythological animation movies from 2015 to 2021 have strengthened national identity by building cultural memories,but there are still parts where entertainment far exceeds their cultural heritage,leading to the loss of cultural foundations.Based on this,the article believes that domestic mythological animation movies should truly integrate the excellent culture and national spirit of the traditional myths that accord with the themes of the times into the core of the movie. |
