The Diachronic Evolution Of Two-syllable Adverbs Of Degree "yu Yi","zui Wei" And "zhi Ji" | | Posted on:2023-06-29 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:J X Li | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2555307037484814 | Subject:Chinese Philology | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | In the framework of diachronic grammaticalization,this paper comprehensively applies the theories of lexicalization and grammaticalization,in the three structures of the formation of disyllabic adverbs in ancient Chinese,"yu yi","zuiwei" and "zhi ji" are chosen as the objects of study,and their origins,development,lexicalization and grammaticalization are investigated comprehensively,the motivation and mechanism are analyzed,and the similarities and differences of lexicalization and grammaticalization are compared according to the formation and development characteristics of each group of words.Through the specific analysis,in order to enrich the diachronic evolution of the degree of disyllabic adverb related research,and to provide some basis for the preparation of relevant books.This article is divided into six parts,the contents of each chapter are summarized as follows:The first chapter is the introduction,which introduces the purpose and significance of this study,determines the specific types of disyllabic degree adverbs,and defines the properties of the object studied in this paper,this paper summarizes the previous studies on adverbs and disyllabic degree adverbs in Chinese history and comments on them,explains the theory and methods used in this paper,and explains the source of the corpus.Chapter two discusses the lexicalization and grammaticalization of "yu yi".Firstly,the grammaticalization of "yu" and "yi" is analyzed respectively,and the concrete process of lexicalization and grammaticalization of "yu" and "yi" is studied through the corpus,and the specific motivation mechanism is briefly discussed.Generally speaking,"yuyi" has been grammaticalized into degree adverbs before becoming a word.As they are parallel phrases with the same meaning of degree adverbs,lexicalization and grammaticalization finally occur,it embodies the characteristics of the compound of the same kind in disyllabic degree adverbs.Chapter three discusses the lexicalization and grammaticalization of "zui wei".This paper analyzes the grammaticalization process of two morphemes when they are formed into words separately,through the characteristics of adverbialization of the most degree and affixation of "wei",this paper analyzes the process of disyllabic degree adverbs composed of degree adverb and affix,and illustrates the special use case of "zui wei",and investigates its diachronic development.Chapter four discusses the lexicalization and grammaticalization of "zhi ji".This paper analyzes the lexicalization and complement tendency of "zhi ji",which develops from predicate-object phrase to fixed phrase,the complement of "ji" leads to "zhi ji" eventually becoming a disyllabic adverb of degree and serving as a complement in sentences.The fifth chapter is a comparative analysis of the evolution and similarities among the three.By comparing the process of word formation,lexicalization time and grammaticalization of the three,this paper analyzes the reasons why they are different from the disyllabic degree adverbs,and sums up the three forms of disyllabic degree adverbs in ancient Chinese.Chapter six is the conclusion.Based on the study and comparison of lexicalization and grammaticalization of three groups of words,this paper summarizes the main contents and points out the shortcomings of the paper and the problems to be further studied in the future. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | two-syllable degree adverb, "yu yi"(愈益), "zui wei"(最为), "zhi ji"(至极), diachronic evolution, comparison | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
