Report On The Translation Of Qin Opera Plays Under The Guidance Of Audience Awareness

Qin opera is one of the oldest dramas of the Han ethnic group in China and a living fossil of Chinese culture.Today,when the material needs are met,improving the national cultural soft power has become an important national strategy.Increasing the research on the translation of Qin opera is conducive to promoting the development of Chinese traditional drama and widening the influence of Chinese traditional culture in the world.Qin opera,as a representative of excellent local culture,should also bring its classic plays to the international stage.Diao Chan mainly tells about Dong Zhuo as the prime minister in the late Eastern Han Dynasty against the background of chaos in the world.With the help of his adopted son Lv Bu,his power and martial arts shocked the world.Aiming at Dong Zhuo and Lv Bu’s lustful and suspicious weakness,Si Tu Wang Yun skillfully used a series of beauty tricks and took the singer Diao Chan as the bait to alienate Dong Zhuo and Lv Bu.The language of the characters in the play is lively and representative,which is of great value to translation research.This translation report selects the classic Qin opera play Diao Chan for translation.Based on the theoretical guidance of audience awareness,combined with the translation strategies under audience awareness and the characteristics of Qin opera texts,it demonstrates the feasibility of audience awareness in guiding the English translation of Qin opera texts by selecting the classic fragments in the play from the aspects of cultural images,dialogue,monologues,proverbs and plays,and illustrates how to choose translation strategies to guide translation practice under the guidance of audience awareness.The translation strategies include the translation of Qin opera plays based on the in-text needs of audiences and the out-text needs of audiences.This thesis puts forward the corresponding translation methods through analysis of specific examples based on the audience awareness,pays attention to balancing the relationship between the readability of the translation and the acceptance of audiences,and discusses how Shaanxi local culture can be better accepted by foreign audiences,retains the cultural and linguistic characteristics to promote the dissemination of Qin opera and its culture across the world.It is hoped that the research on the translation of Qin opera Diao Chan can also provide a valuable reference for the translation of other local operas.
