Adolescence is a critical period for individual growth. Both physiology and psychology will undergo rapid changes,so the risk of emotional problems will greatly increase. As the initial socialization situation of children, family is particularly important for all aspects of children’s growth.Recently,China has promulgated the Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Promotion of Family Education, which brings family education into the legal category and has also attracted the attention of all sectors of society. In the family, parental psychological control and behavioral control are two aspects of parental control, which have different effects on the physical and mental development of adolescents.Parental psychological control is considered as a negative parenting behavior because it limits the emotional expression and autonomous development of children; However, parental behavior control is considered to be a relatively positive parenting behavior by controlling children’s behavior and making their behavior more in line with the requirements of family and social norms.Under the macro background of increasing emphasis on family education, this study has important practical significance to further investigate the influence of parental psychological control and behavioral control on adolescents’ emotional adaptation and its process mechanism. In study 1,555 middle school students were selected to conduct a questionnaire survey using the parental psychological control scale, the parental behavior control scale, the general regulatory focus measure, the children’s social anxiety scale, the loneliness scale, and the children’s depression scale. The results showed that:(1)The main effect of grade is significant. In terms of social anxiety and depression, junior high school students are significantly higher than junior high school students. In terms of loneliness, junior high school students are significantly higher than junior high school students; The main effect of gender is significant. In terms of parental behavior control and depression, girls are significantly higher than boys; There is a significant difference in the promotion focus and depression level between the only child and the non-only child. The promotion focus of the only child is significantly higher than that of the non-only child, and the depression level of the only child is significantly lower than that of the non-only child.(2)There is a significant positive correlation between parental psychological control and prevention focus, emotional adaptation problems(loneliness, social anxiety, depression);Parental behavior control was positively correlated with promotion focus, prevention focus and social anxiety, and negatively correlated with loneliness.(3)After controlling the demographic variables, prevention focus plays a partial intermediary role between parents’ psychological control and adolescents’ social anxiety, loneliness and depression, plays a complete intermediary role between parents’ behavior control and adolescents’ social anxiety, and plays a partial intermediary role with loneliness and depression;Promotion focus plays a partial intermediary role between parents’ psychological control and adolescents’ social anxiety and depression, plays a complete intermediary role between parents’ behavioral control and adolescents’ social anxiety, and plays a partial intermediary role with depression. The second study selected 14 students for qualitative interviews on the basis of the first study.Through open coding, correlation coding, core coding and theoretical analysis,it was found that the high and low groups of emotional adaptation problems had differences in parental rearing perception, emotional impact events, regulatory focus and coping style. The high group subjects perceived more negative parental rearing and experienced more negative emotional impact events,It shows more prevention focus and negative response, which further supports that different specific parenting behaviors of parents will affect the formation of adolescents’ regulatory focus and the generation of emotional adaptation problems.
