Mongolian folk musical instruments, their playing methods and the tuning patterns are closely related to the lifestyles and mindsets of the nomads, and the development of the Mongolian erhu also contains those cultural characteristics.Since the middle of the 20 th century, influenced by the change of musical instruments and the reform of the repertory, performance technology and methods have made great progress.Taking H.Bilegjargal’s “Erhu Sonata” as an example,we study the setting string of the erhu used in Mongolia, the structure of the erhu made by Mongolian craftsmen in recent years, and the characteristics of the method of using this erhu performance. As a study with no precedent in Both China and Mongolia,it is not only innovative, but also helps the erhu students to understand the style and characteristics of Mongolian music.
