| In April 2022,the new version of Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standards was promulgated.Cultural awareness is still one of the four core qualities of students to be cultivated in English courses,which shows its importance.But in the actual teaching,no matter the school,teachers or students,do not give enough attention to the cultivation of cultural awareness.While primary school is an important stage for students to contact English,if we can pay attention to cultivating their cultural awareness at this stage,it will benefit their future development,broaden their vision,and lay a solid foundation for future study.Therefore,combining with the content of the new curriculum standard,this paper tries to understand the cultivation of cultural awareness in primary school English teaching through literature research,questionnaire survey and interview.Through the research,it is found that the problems in primary school English teaching and their causes are as follows: from the perspective of students,students have low mastery of cultural knowledge and deep thinking in their mother tongue;The purpose of English learning is simple and utilitarian;Cultural knowledge learning motivation is weak,learning channels are few.From the perspective of teachers,the cultural knowledge reserves of teachers are not large enough,they pay little attention to the cultivation of cultural awareness,and cultural teaching methods are simple.From the school level,the school English culture learning atmosphere is poor,teachers’ related training and learning is not in place.In view of the existing problems and their causes in this study,the researcher also puts forward corresponding countermeasures: from the students’ point of view,it is necessary to enhance students’ autonomy in learning cultural knowledge,strengthen students’ habit of learning English culture after class,and also improve students’ ability to understand cultural knowledge;From the perspective of teachers,teachers need to improve themselves and pay attention to cultural knowledge supplement;Change the concept,pay attention to the cultivation of cultural consciousness;Renew means,innovate education teaching method.From the school level,schools can create a good cultural atmosphere,regularly carry out teacher training seminars,and make full use of modern educational technology.On the whole,this study achieves the expected goal.However,due to the limitation of objective reasons,there are still some deficiencies in this study.Therefore,this paper finally puts forward the direction of future efforts,hoping that the results of this study can provide some reference for primary school’s English teaching. |
