Image Juxtaposition And Meaning Reconstruction In Pop Painting

Image juxtaposition and meaning reconstruction is a common pictorial language in contemporary art creation,which is widely used in Pop Art.Image juxtaposition is the use of stitching to juxtapose different materials into the same image to produce new effects and meanings.The contemporary American artist James Rosenqiust,one of the most influential representatives of Pop Art,representing a revolution in the language of image juxtaposition,and became a distinctive creation from Pop Art.No other artist of that era could juxtapose as imaginatively as he did.This paper focuses on the use of juxtaposition of images and reconstruction of meaning in James Rosenquist’s works by analyzing his paintings.From James Rosenquist’s works,we interpret the overview of the use of the pictorial language of image juxtaposition and meaning reconstruction in Pop painting.In addition to the introduction,this paper is divided into five chapters: Chapter 1briefly describes the use of image juxtaposition in Pop art,and giving examples to illustrate the difference between the juxtaposition of the same image and the juxtaposition of different images;Chapter 2 introduces the overview of James Rosenquist’s creation,analyzing and sorting out James Rosenquist’s life and creative works.Chapter 3 presents the juxtaposition of images in James Rosenquist’s works,including the juxtaposition of images with celebrities as symbols,the juxtaposition of images with anti-war-related themes,and the juxtaposition of images with science-related themes,and explores the use of juxtaposition of images in his works;Chapter 4 presents the reconstruction of meanings in James Rosenquist’s works,including the reconstruction of meanings with the theme of promoting industrial power,the reconstruction of meanings in advertising paintings,and the reconstruction of meanings in the construction ofthe relationship between human beings and nature in the images.Chapter 5 concludes with the meaning and methodological revelation of James Rosenquist’s image juxtaposition,the purpose of his personal creation,and a summary of the influence ofthe image juxtaposition in his paintings on his own creation.The painting practice of American Pop artist James Rosenquist shows that these techniques of image juxtaposition and reconstruction of meaning are widely used in his works.After a preliminary investigation,the author found that there is still much room for domestic exploration and analysis of his paintings.By consulting various literature,I have strengthened my understanding of Rosenquist’s art,and I have been able to understand his paintings from many aspects and angles,to improve my art appreciation and cultivate my aesthetic sensibility.The artist’s creation is closely related to the era in which we ourselves live.Faced with the contradictions and problems ofthis era,only by paying close attention to the life around us,by practicing hard,by improving our own creative awareness,by exploring the juxtaposition of images and their use in our own painting creation,and by using our own unique perspective to cut into life and observe it,can we create works with a unique personality and sense ofthe times.
