The use of public image resources is mainly reflected in the pop era.James Rosenquist is a representative figure who used public image resources to create easel painting in pop era.Different from pop artists of his time,he rearranged many public images into paintings by collage.His use of public image resources not only changed the single creation mode of traditional painting,but also inspired the creation of a new generation of artists,and injected new vitality into easel painting.In the 1980 s,China carried out reform and opening up.This great measure not only stimulated the rapid growth of economy,the prosperity of consumer culture and the rapid increase of public images,but also brought new artistic thoughts to China and promoted the development of Chinese art.In the 1990 s,the generation of political pop,gaudy art and cartoon are all representative schools that use public image resources to create.As a kind of open and shared image resources,the public image resources are still of great significance to today's easel painting creation,which also proves that painting will not necessarily die out because of the rich image resources.Therefore,it is of practical significance to take James Rosenquist as a case to study the use of public image resources in easel painting.This paper mainly discusses the use of public image resources in easel painting through the study of pop artist James Rosenquist and his works.Rosenquist is an early artist who used the public image resources in easel painting.Through the study of himself and his works,it helps to reflect on today's painting creation.This paper also analyzes and studies his background,working and learning experience,his working methods,painting language and other aspects,and demonstrates the effectiveness and possibility of using public image resources in easel painting with his own creation.This article is divided into six chapters,the key contents of which are arranged in the second to fifth chapters.In the second chapter,the definition of public image,the definition and characteristics of public image resources are studied.The third chapter summarizes the definition and characteristics of easel painting.The fourth chapter studies the artists from the aspects of the background of the times,the schools of the artists and the representative artists of the schools,the use of public image resources,the related schools that have an impact on his art,the formal language of his works,the significance and influence of his creation,etc.The fifth chapter focuses on the carding and summary of my own creation,focusing on my use of public image resources in easel painting creation.Through the research,the final conclusion is drawn: ?painting will not die out because of the emergence of new media ? public image resources promote the development of easel painting in a certain sense.
