A Research On The Application Of The Flipped Classroom In English Reading Teaching In Junior Middle School

Abstract/Summary:
Junior middle school students’ English reading level is usually regarded as an important standard and scale to measure their comprehensive English learning ability.However,nowadays there are still many problems in junior middle school English reading teaching,for example the teaching model is too single,teachers focus on teaching test-taking skills rather than improving students’ ability and so on,which have been the resistance to the improvement of students’ English reading ability.The flipped classroom can break the time and space constraints of traditional reading class,and inject vitality and enthusiasm into English reading class,which can greatly arouse students’ learning interest and improve their reading ability.This experiment was carried out in Linyi No.28 junior middle school.A total of 90 students in two parallel classes in Grade 7 were selected as the research subjects,and this study mainly focuses on the following three problems:1.How to construct specific flipped classroom teaching model in English reading teaching and apply it to teaching practice?2.Does flipped classroom have an impact on students’ reading interest?3.Does flipped classroom have an impact on students’ English reading achievement?Before the experiment,the pre-test is used to test the English reading achievement between the experimental class and the control class,and the pre-questionnaire is used to investigate the current situation of junior middle school English reading teaching and the students’ basic learning attitude.During the experiment,flipped classroom is adopted in the experimental class,by contrast the control class uses the traditional teaching model.After the experiment,the relevant data of students’ attitude towards flipped classroom and the impact on students’ learning interest of English reading are collected through the second questionnaire.The post-test is used to examine the gap in reading achievement between the experimental class and the control class.Through investigation and data analysis,the following conclusions are drawn:1.Flipped classroom can be successfully applied in English reading teaching in junior middle school.2.The result of two questionnaires showed that most of the students in EC have improved their interest in English reading.3.Through the comparison of post-test results,the English reading achievement of EC is better than that of CC,which indicates that flipped classroom can improve the English reading achievement of junior middle school students.
