Study On The Types Of Difficult Characters In Xiaozhuan

Xiao Zhuan font is complex,the form is strange,often difficult to recognize,some of the preserved small Zhuan characters and traditional style in the form and character use there is a great difference.Based on the characteristics of Xiaozhuan character,from the perspective of ordinary scholars and practitioners of Xiaozhuan character,this paper studies the difficult characters of Xiaozhuan character in the calligraphy works of the past dynasties.It concludes that there are three reasons for the difficult characters of Xiaozhuan character.One is the development and evolution of Chinese characters,the other is the small number and complex character of Xiaozhuan character.The third reason is that the practitioners of Xiaozhuan lack the theoretical basis of philology.Among these reasons,the development and evolution of Chinese characters themselves is the most important cause of difficult characters in Xiaozhuan.Therefore,this paper focuses on the influence of the evolution of Chinese characters on the development and inheritance of Xiaozhuan characters,explores the category of difficult characters of Xiaozhuan characters from this dimension,and divides difficult characters of Xiaozhuan characters into four types,namely,scribe transformation,vulgar seal character,positive character transformation,and Chinese character differentiation and combination,specifically analyzes the generation process of difficult characters of Xiaozhuan characters,and carefully compares the differences between each type of difficult characters of Xiaozhuan characters and today’s traditional style regular characters.Through the analysis of examples,it is found that there are significant differences between difficult characters of Xiaozhuan character and regular characters of traditional style in font.These font differences are concentrated in structure and side parts.The differences include: the font structure of Xiaozhuan character and regular character is completely different;There is a big difference between Xiaozhuan character and Kai character in phonetics or signifiers,there is a change of the situation;There are three types of Xiaozhuan and Kai characters.Furthermore,there are also great differences between the difficult characters of Xiaozhuan character and the traditional block character in the use of characters.Such differences include: the functions of the difficult characters of Xiaozhuan character corresponding to Xiaozhuan character are different from those of today’s block character.The two may have different meanings,not the same word;There may be differences between the difficult characters of Xiaozhuan and the modern regular characters.Finally,this paper attempts to explore the use of small seal characters in the calligraphy art creation of small seal characters since the Ming and Qing Dynasties,thinking about the problems existing in the selection and application of small seal characters and then put forward some personal suggestions.
