The folk songs of northern Shaanxi are a highly representative art form of northern Shaanxi culture,and they also occupy an important place in China’s folk song culture as an intangible cultural heritage.The folk songs of northern Shaanxi have strong contemporary characteristics and are a true reflection of the political,economic,social,and cultural conditions of different periods in northern Shaanxi;they are an important carrier of the history and culture of northern Shaanxi,and the revolutionary folk songs of northern Shaanxi,born during the revolutionary period,are the crystallization of the wisdom of the people of northern Shaanxi,as well as an important reflection of the contribution of intellectuals and people’s artists to the spread of folk song culture.In addition,as a representative of China’s red songs,the revolutionary folk songs of northern Shaanxi have become excellent works that have been passed down throughout history for a long time because of their strong political,distinctive and contemporary nature and their strong infectious power,reflecting the state of mind and social reality of the people of that era and giving people positive influence and education.This article takes the revolutionary folk songs of northern Shaanxi as the object of study from the perspective of revolutionary culture,and analyses and researches the content and form of their dissemination,as well as their characteristics and effects,respectively,under the framework of communication science.However,what is the same is that in every historical period,the revolutionary folk songs of northern Shaanxi played an important role in conveying revolutionary ideas and promoting revolutionary culture.Traditionally,the folk songs of northern Shaanxi were mostly composed on the themes of suffering and love,but the establishment of the revolutionary base in the northwest of the country in 1928 led to a change from the sour songs of the past to a new style of singing praise to the revolutionary leaders and the new life.During this period,the Communist Party of China,as the communicator,and revolutionary folk songs as the medium,spread the knowledge of Marxist theory and Mao Zedong’s new ideas as the content of communication to the peasants,enlightening the masses of workers and peasants and pushing revolutionary ideas to the people in a popular and easy-to-understand way.During the period of socialist revolution and construction,a large-scale music and dance epic adapted from the classic Shaanxi revolutionary folk song The East Is Red was staged at the Great Hall of the People,and its dissemination introduced the world to the revolutionary folk song of Shaanxi.The East Is Red uses vivid and colourful artistic forms to bring out the theories and ideas of the revolutionary cultural tradition and to outline the course of China’s present-day contemporary history with the revolution as the main thread,showcasing the heart-stopping revolutionary history of It is not only a work to promote and spread revolutionary culture,but also a spiritual medicine to inspire people to advance.Although the dissemination of revolutionary folk songs in northern Shaanxi is not as hot as it was in the revolutionary era and faces difficulties in dissemination,we should still appreciate the valuable revolutionary spirit of the old generation of communists in the melodious songs and continue to disseminate and pass it on in the socialist construction of the new era.This article seeks to investigate the important role of revolutionary folk songs in the dissemination and promotion of revolutionary culture through a review of their dissemination in different periods of revolutionary history,as well as to analyse the difficulties they face through questionnaire surveys and literature research,and to propose corresponding optimization strategies,with a view to providing a reference for the dissemination of this musical art form and the further transmission and promotion of revolutionary culture within it.The study is intended to provide a reference for the dissemination of this musical art form and the further transmission and promotion of revolutionary culture.
