| The use of smart phones affects people’s social interactions, especially those of partners in close relationships.Cell phones can help individuals in intimate relationships connect with each other and maintain the relationship. However, unrestrained use of mobile phones will distract the attention of individuals,so that individuals show partner phubbing.Partner phubbing implies rejection,so individuals who are more sensitive to rejection may increase their negative perception of partner phubbing. When the partner looks at the phone, the resources of the partner are occupied, and the overlap between the individual and the partner will be reduced, thus reducing the satisfaction of the individual to the intimate relationship. Therefore, this study attempts to explore the impact of partner phubbing on individual satisfaction of intimate relationship, taking self-others overlap as the mediating variable and rejection sensitivity as the moderating variable,in an attempt to establish a moderated mediation model. In this study, the recall paradigm was adopted.Subjects first completed the basic situation survey and the Rejection Sensitivity Scale, then the experimental group recalled the experience of their partner looking down at the phone and ignoring themselves, and the control group recalled the ordinary experience of eating breakfast. After the recall, the participants’recall was tested, and then they completed the Inclusion of Other in the Self Scale and the Close Relationship Satisfaction Scale. The subjects in this study were 150 students in University at Changchun(Mage=23.27,SD=3.19),including 64 males(42.7%)and 86 females(57.3%).The subjects were randomly divided into experimental group and control group, with 75 subjects in each group.SPSS 22.0 was used to conduct statistics and test on the data, and Process plug-in was used to test the mediating effect and moderated mediating effect of the model. The research conclusions are as follows:(1)Partner phubbing negatively predicted the satisfaction of intimate relationship of college students, and also negatively predicted the self-others overlap of college students. The self-others overlap of college students has a positive predictive effect on intimate relationship satisfaction.(2)Self-others overlap played a partial mediating role in the effect of partner phubbing on intimate relationship satisfaction.(3)Rejection sensitivity has a significant moderating effect on the negative prediction of partner phubbing on the degree of self-others overlap. In addition, rejection sensitivity can significantly moderate the mediating effect of self-others overlap on the influence of partner phubbing on intimate relationship satisfaction. These conclusions suggest that partner phubbing can lead to a decrease in intimate relationship satisfaction. In this process, the degree of self-others overlap plays a partial mediating role, and rejection sensitivity can moderate the negative influence of partner’s phubbing.Partner phubbing has a negative impact on college students in the intimate relationship. It will lead to the feeling of being rejected and ignored by the partner, affect the degree of overlap between the partner and the individual, and also affect the satisfaction of the individual in the intimate relationship. This is a reminder that people should look at their phones less when interacting with their partners, make their partners feel accepted rather than rejected, include their partners in themselves, and overlap psychologically and behaviorally with their partners, thus reducing the negative impact of their partner phubbing on intimate relationships. |
