Employee innovation behavior refers to the behavior of employees generating new ideas, new perspectives, new methods,or new products in their work and effectively translating them into tangible results. This behavior is usually based on employees’ creative thinking and practical abilities, constantly trying new ideas and methods in their work, and creating new value for the organization.Research on employee innovation behavior can promote the innovation capability of the organization, improve its competitiveness and market position. To explore the mechanism of the role of employee career adaptability in their innovation behavior, two research studies were conducted.Study One: the revision of the scale of employee career adaptability in organizations was carried out with a sample of 798 employees through steps such as scale refinement,semi-structured interviews, and data analysis. The results of the study showed that the revised questionnaire of employee career adaptability in organizations includes six dimensions: career curiosity, career interpersonal, career self-confidence,career concern, career control, and career adaptability, with a total of 36 items. The alpha coefficient of the questionnaire is 0.950,and the indicators of construct validity,criterion-related validity, and discriminant validity all meet the requirements of measurement theory. The revised questionnaire of career adaptability has good reliability and validity and can be used as an effective measurement tool to study employee career adaptability.Study Two was conducted with a sample of 955 employees to examine the impact of different demographic variables on career adaptability, the hypothetical model of the relationship among career adaptability, job thriving, organizational innovation climate, and employee innovation behavior, and to verify the hypotheses. The results of the study are as follows:(1)There are significant differences in employee career adaptability in terms of job tenure.(2)Employee career adaptability positively predicts employee innovation behavior.(3)Job thriving plays a mediating role in the relationship between career adaptability and employee innovation behavior.(4)Organizational innovation climate significantly moderates the direct effect of career adaptability on employee innovation behavior and the mediating effect of job thriving. The higher the organizational innovation climate, the more significant the direct and mediating effects.Based on the research findings,it is suggested that organizations should pay attention to enhancing employees’ career adaptability, which can be achieved through providing training, career planning, and employee counseling, among other methods. At the same time, creating a positive work environment and culture that fosters job thriving, such as increasing job autonomy, providing favorable working conditions, and strengthening employee care, can also be effective.Additionally, organizations should focus on creating an organizational innovation climate, such as conducting innovation projects, establishing innovation platforms, and incentivizing employees to propose new ideas,to further promote employee innovation behavior and enhance the organization’s innovation capability.
