Alain Robbe-Grillet(1922-2008)is a representative of the French new novel school in the 20 th century. His literary creation has great exploration value, provides a new perspective for the artistic creation of novels, and opens a new chapter for the development of literature. Therefore, this paper mainly focuses on Grillet’s middle and late works.Taking the relevant theories of narratology as the incision, this paper discusses Grillet’s literary creation through close reading of the text, and carefully examines the narrative techniques of Robbe-Grillet’s novels and the deep philosophical thoughts behind them from three aspects:discourse form, narrative content and meaning value.Grillet’s unique narrative strategies and techniques are the key to reading his works carefully. The essence of his narrative order is the characteristics of uncertainty. This paper will first discuss the historical background of Grillet’s creation, and then combine the development process of narratology, trying to explain how Grillet’s literary creation breaks through the traditional narrative to form uncertain narrative.Secondly,it analyzes how Grillet’s uncertain literature is constructed.Taking Genette’s narrative discourse as a reference, the narrative discourse forms in Grillet’s works are discussed from the perspectives of narrator and narrative time. His novels usually cannot be reduced to a complete story,so the story as a product of discourse renders the uncertain narrative effect;then, starting from the relevant theories of classical narratology and post-classical narratology, this paper analyzes the unique narrative content of Grillet’s novels in the two aspects of plot and people and things under the uncertain narrative form. Finally, from the perspective of meaning value, this paper explores the deep philosophical thought behind Grillet’s uncertain narrative mode——what is the connotation of uncertain reality and uncertain meaning, and what kind of influence his literary creation brings to later generations, and what reference value can it bring to the current society and individuals. |
