A think tank is a national policy think tank and news tree. The Carnegie Moscow Center is ranked first among 514 think tanks in Russia and Eastern Europe by international think tank research institutions. It is an important basis for economic and foreign policy, and also has a major impact on international relations such as China, the United States and Russia,as well as various global issues. In order to better understand the Russian intellectual circle’s understanding of China, this research analyzes all China-related reports published on the official website of the Carnegie Moscow Center(from November 2005 to February 2022),and obtained a total of 522 China-related reports. This article uses intertextual and critical discourse analysis to study the status quo of knowledge production and dissemination at the Carnegie Moscow Center in China, examines the intertextual links formed between the Carnegie Moscow Center and other sources of media reports, focusing on the Carnegie Moscow Center The characteristics and scope of the Center’s China-related reports, and the positions taken by the expert group. It is hoped that linguistic research can grasp the status of Chinese knowledge production in typical Russian think tanks, promote mutual understanding between China and Russia, promote the development of cross-cultural communication, and promote the construction of China’s national image.Since the Crimean crisis in the outbreak year of 2014 and the global epidemic in2020 have profoundly affected not only Russia but also its relationship with the globe, our study divides the entire process of knowledge production in China since the founding of the Carnegie Moscow Center into three phases: first, the pre-Crimean crisis period of 2005-2013,second,the Crimean crisis period of 2014-2019,and third, the global epidemic period of 2020-2022,thus examining the evolution of Russian knowledge production related to China in different periods. The study found:First, from the perspective of the subject of China-related knowledge production, the author of the Carnegie Moscow Center’s China-related report consists of two parts:the first part belongs to the researchers and invited experts of the Carnegie Moscow Center(including more than 300 experts in total),and the second part Part II belongs to non-resident researchers from around the world.Carnegie Moscow Center specialists are committed to the principles of the scientific method and objective analysis. Not only do they have a good understanding of the details of local realities, but they also examine them from a global perspective. In addition, the resident scientists of Russian think tanks enjoy a high reputation in their respective fields and are often quoted by the world’s leading media.Second,in terms of the data sources of China-related knowledge production, the China-related reports released by the Carnegie Moscow Center,in addition to the original reports of Russian think tank experts, also have a few articles from other local and international sources. In doing so,the Carnegie Moscow Center contributes to shaping the content of policy debates on traditional and emerging issues, and to expanding their political influence and academic stature. In addition, through an intertextual analysis of the Carnegie Moscow Center’s China-related reports, this paper finds that other media sources on the Internet basically agree with Russian think tank experts. They all regard China and Russia as the world’s most important countries. An important neighbor and regards the United States as a common competitor of China and Russia.Third, from the perspective of the content of China-related knowledge production, through the intertextual analysis of all China-related reports published on the official website of the Carnegie Moscow Center, this paper further finds that the China-related reports of Russian think tanks on China-related knowledge production are very comprehensive and rich in content.Experts provide timely coverage of important events happening in the world over time.In general, experts from the Carnegie Moscow Center focused their attention on the China-Russia partnership,China-US-Russia triangular relations, the new crown epidemic, the development of the "Belt and Road" project, and the security situation in the Asia-Pacific region. We further found that while releasing various reports related to China issues, experts from Russian think tanks strongly encouraged the strategic partnership between China and Russia, and worked hard to promote further cooperation between countries. In short, the study found that: As far as Sino-Russian relations are concerned,in the eyes of Russian think tank experts,China and Russia have played an important and constructive role on major international and regional issues such as global strategic stability, climate change, and the new crown epidemic;energy cooperation It has always been the field with the most weight, the most achievements, and the widest scope in the practical cooperation between China and Russia;the potential for cooperation in the economic and trade field between China and Russia is huge.In view of technological progress and changes in the economic structures of the two countries, regional advantages will be more actively utilized. The fields of cooperation will continue to expand and the level of interaction will continue to increase. But despite such a strong mutual attraction pushing Russia and China closer to each other,Moscow and Beijing will not be allies like the US and its partners. These understandings not only influenced Russia’s national policies, but also provided a reference for China’s participation in global governance...
