In the era of network “global village”,the online literature of a country or a nation goes abroad to share with the world, which is the“technology dividend” brought by digital media. In recent years, with the trend of creative explosion and the deep efforts of researchers,“going abroad” of Chinese online literature with the charm of Chinese cultureloaded stories has become a cross-cultural phenomenon of great concern.Against the backdrop of this, the author chooses the Chinese-English translation of online literary works as a translation practice project. This is a translation practice report completed via the platform of“Yunzaishangque”.The project adopts the method of “machine translation+ post-editing”(MTPE)to translate the materials of online literary works. In the process of translation practice, the author summarizes the common error types in machine translation(MT)of online literary works at the lexical, syntactic and textual levels respectively. The MT error types are mainly divided into inaccurate translation of terminologies, buzzwords and dialect expressions;unsatisfactory translation of culture-loaded expressions, mistranslation of polysemous words;subject-related errors, misuse of pronouns,tense-related errors;lack of coherence, and contradiction in logic at the textual level.Based on the analysis of MT error types, the author figures out the corresponding post-editing methods, including correcting the terminologies with parallel texts, collecting the terminologies to expand the database, readjusting the misused words by analyzing the context, interpreting the culture connotations to bridge the cultural gap, adjusting or supplementing the subject, adjusting the tense, restructuring the sentences if necessary, using cohesive devices flexibly, and rewriting the text partially if in great need. The author hopes to convey the original meaning of the source text correctly and smoothly while retaining the Chinese characteristics of the online literary works with the help of the above-mentioned methods.
