| Commercial activities are increasing in frequency with the growth of the social economy,giving rise to countless demands for translation of commercial texts.In light of this,the translator selected the academic paper Swift Guanxi in Online Market Places:The Role of Computer-Mediated Communication Technologies as E-C translation practice.In order to understand the characteristics of the original text,the author analyzed the data before translation and found that the text was expertly written,contained comprehensive facts,and followed a rigorous logic.Based on the analysis of the text characteristics,the difficulties in the translation of this commercial text in terms of lexicon,syntax and discourse are summarized.Under the guidance of relevance theory,effective translation techniques are chosen for the related translation difficulties.Relevance theory,whose central idea is the pursuit of the optimal relevance,serves as the theoretical foundation for this report.For contextual effects and good translation comprehension,the recipient can realize the best contextual assumptions from the translated content during translation activities.Using contextual,cultural and audience relevance of relevance theory as a guide,this report investigates the difficulties of translating practice from the perspectives of lexicon,syntax,and discourse.From the perspective of lexicon,translation techniques such as direct translation and the augmentation method are adopted to translate commercial terminologies,proper nouns and abbreviations so that the translation conforms to the contextual characteristics;at the syntactic level,for the translation of passive sentences and long sentences,the author adopts morphological conversion and sequential reorganization to ensure the consistency of the translation;at the textual level,the author uses omission and reduction methods to achieve the recipient’s optimal relevance and ensure that the information in the text is understood by the recipients.The translation examples in this study demonstrate the explanatory potential of relevance theory for translating commercial text,and it is expected to provide a reference for translation practice in related fields in the future. |
